OctoberFest 2010

Posted on November 17, 2010 by Mandy

A few weeks ago we attended one of our town’s biggest festivals, OctoberFest.  It’s a huge display of arts and crafts, great live music, and a Memphis in May sanctioned BBQ competition.  Several of the high schools also hold their class reunions around this time, so you always bump into people you haven’t seen in years and see everyone you know.  It kicks off on a Friday night, and the smells of BBQ that waft all over town starting the Thursday night before are just heavenly and really gets everyone excited.

What did we do there?

We ate BBQ, of course…and washed it down with RC Cola.

E.B played in the kiddy section, which had inflatable everything (at $3 a pop to get in!!) and took a train ride.

And I got to look at a few things, like purses, which I love.

However, it was the weather that finally did us all in almost 1 and a half hours after arriving.  It was SO hot.  In October!  The heat just drained us, so we ended up leaving much earlier than we normally planned and came home and took a big nap.

Still Worth It?

Posted on November 17, 2010 by Mandy

Whether you spend a little or a lot on an item you really want, I’m sure, like many people, you do your research on the item, compare prices, and read reviews.  I can remember agonizing online for hours over my digital camera I purchased this spring.  I knew what I wanted to spend, but I also wanted the best value for my money.  Reading reviews by real customers was a big help in weighing the pros and cons of each camera I considered.  So far, my camera has been a great purchase I have been pleased with, but part of me wonders how well it will hold up over time.

A new website has recently launched that focuses on the burning question consumers want to know…is it still worth it?  StillWorthIt.com invites consumers to share their opinions on everything from electronics, health and beauty products, kitchen items, and so much more.   Do you love a product so much you want to tell the world?  Did a product not meet your expectations or completely fall apart after only a couple of uses?  StillWorthIt.com wants to know and from now until December 10, 2010, if you register and make a post about a product you’ve tried or make a relevant comment on another post, you will be entered into a drawing to win an Amazon Kindle and a $25 Amazon Gift Card to start you off with some electronic books.  The runner-up prize is a $50 gift card to Best Buy!

Be sure to Like StillWorth It on Facebook and Follow StillWorthIt on Twitter.

So go ahead and tell the world…is it still worth it?

Pillsbury Grands! Frozen Mini Biscuits Giveaway

Posted on November 16, 2010November 21, 2010 by Mandy

Is there anything better than fresh from the oven, piping hot biscuits on a cold morning?  I live for the weekends when my husband gets up and has our home smelling wonderful with a huge breakfast cooking.  We’re big fans of Pillsbury biscuits, so there was no twisting my arm when offered the chance to try out their Frozen Mini Biscuits!

Each 70-calorie biscuit is a delight when served hot from the oven, with a warm fluffy center and golden, flaky crust. Pillsbury Grands! Mini Biscuits are the perfect size for kids, or for mini sandwiches and appetizers. There are countless recipe options, from miniature ham sandwiches come lunchtime, to delicious sliders for nighttime entertaining. There are so many ways to make these biscuits and your family will love trying each one.

We enjoyed our biscuits, just as we expected.  I love mine with melted butter and drowning in maple syrup.  The fact that they were frozen did not in one bit adversely affect the taste, which was a welcome surprise.  It’s nice to have these readily available in our freezer for anytime we want to bake a few or a bunch.

Giveaway:

Thanks to Pillsbury and MyBlogSpark, I have a gift basket complete with a VIP coupon good for a free package of biscuits, a $15 gift card to purchase your recipe creation/experimentation needs, a biscuit basket, a butter dish and spreader!
