The Peanuts Holiday Collection

Watching The Peanuts holiday episodes were one of my favorite ways to get excited about the holidays as a little girl.  Back when I was growing up, cartoons only came on after school and Saturday mornings, so being able to watch one during prime time television at night was a real treat!  Warner brothers has just released The Peanuts Holiday Collection on Blu Ray and DVD and I am so excited to be able to share these fun holiday episodes with my own son.

The Peanuts Holiday Collection includes all new remastered episodes and bonus episodes from the following Peanuts Deluxe Edition releases: 

– It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
– A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
– A Charlie Brown Christmas

 

We truly enjoyed watching these episodes and will be watching them again this week as we prepare for the Thanksgiving holidays.

The Clorox Toilet Bowl

One of our family traditions that always takes place after the Thanksgiving dinner is watching football.  Of course, almost everyone ends up nodding off before a game is finished, which is understandable after all of the wonderful food, but it’s still an activity that draws the family together.  One of the most anticipated games for us actually takes place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, when SEC Mississippi rivals the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University compete in the Egg Bowl.  My family is crazy about the Ole Miss Rebels, so we never miss this game!

Let’s Talk Budgets

One thing I have vowed to do in the new year is make a home budget and hold myself accountable to sticking to it.  It’s not that we overspend, but I know there are things we could cut out of our daily spending.  Seeing where my money goes on a daily basis would be a huge eye-opener, I’m sure. 

I know there are many ways to keep track of our spending, and I’ve decided to give the electronic way a try.  I’ve tried using just plain old pen and paper, but I think it would be so much easier to have  budget software set up on our home computer to make keeping track of our expenses faster and easier.  Setting up a budget worksheet looks to be an easy enough process and once it’s broken down into graphs and everything is calculated automatically, I’m sure the bigger financial picture will reveal itself, helping us find ways to spend wisely and cut out needless spending when we can.

Our family’s goal is to be debt free (mortgage, medical bills, and student loans) and free to bless others when the opportunity presents itself.  Getting there won’t be quick, easy, or fun, but it will definitely be worth it in the end.
