Getting a great start to our morning is important to me as a mother.  I like to be sure my son has a good breakfast that will keep him feeling great until lunch time.  He is a picky eater, so actually finding things he likes to eat can be a challenge.  Fortunately, cereal is one of those breakfast foods he enjoys without a fuss.

We were recently sent 5 Kellogg’s cereals to try out as part of the Start Simple. Start Right. campaign and taste for ourselves how good a wholesome and simple breakfast can be.  We received the following cereals:

Kellogg’s Raisin Bran

Kellogg’s All Bran

Kellogg’s Corn Flakes

Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Original

Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Gluten Free

When purchasing cereals, the very first thing I look at is sugar content.  Let’s face it, almost every cereal that kids love is loaded with sugar.  While sugar is fine in moderation, I know that too much of it can be a bad thing.  My husband and I both have Type 2 diabetes.  I want to provide my son with healthier choices when it comes to his meals.

Just as what is in cereal is important, what’s equally interesting is how it is made.  I’m becoming more aware that how food makes it’s way to our tables can be very indicative of it’s nutritional value.  Kellogg’s has created an infographic and video on how their cereals are made from seed to spoon.

My son is crazy about Kellogg’s Rice Krispies, so this box we received definitely excited him. We also received a Gluten-Free Rice Krispies, so that option is available to those who follow a gluten-free diet.  I was anxious to sample the Raisin Bran.  I remember eating this as a child and it was just as good as I remembered.

 

 

It’s great to see Kellogg’s “Seed to Spoon” approach at creating cereals that I can feel confident offering my family.

Once upon a time there was a couple who were engaged to be married.  They were busy apartment hunting and making big plans for the wedding when suddenly they hit a little road bump on their way to happily ever after.  While trying to get their credit approved for a cute little first apartment, it was discovered that the groom-to-be’s credit had been tainted by someone who set up utility accounts in the groom’s name and never paid those bills.  Try as he might, time was against him to clear his good name and credit.  The groom just had to cut his losses and fork over the money to clear up some of the accounts.  While this cleared up the matter at hand, and the couple were able to get approved for their cute little first apartment, it certainly angered the couple and put a nice little dent in their finances.  It also left them wondering how they could prevent this from ever happening again.
