The Weekend Recap

Happy Tuesday!  I hope everyone had a restful Labor Day.  It was quiet around our house.  Hubby left for work Monday morning, and Young Man slept in, so I had a quiet Monday morning.  I drank coffee, watched my birds, read my Bible, and texted with a cousin for a little bit.  I managed to wash all our bedsheets for the week.  This took a while because I decided to wash the comforters, too.  But I love having fresh, clean sheets for the week!  I just think I sleep better on them.

Friday, Hubby and I had to make the trip out of town to my cardiologist.  We left at 7 AM to make it to my 10:15 AM appointment.  I was planning on Young Man going with me, but hubby made it in later Thursday evening, so it worked out well.  After we finished up there, we headed out to find some lunch and a bookstore.  We have a very small bookstore in our town, so when we get to go out of town, we love to find a bigger one to look in.  We found a Barnes & Noble, and we piddled around there for a little bit.  I found a Bible verse word search book on sale for $9.  It’s beautiful!  They also had book totes at the register for $1.00 each!  I got three of those.  Hubby found some military books at a deep discount.  I just love looking at their funny bookmarks and gift items.

Next, he dropped me off at Bath & Body Works (of course!  HAHA!), and THEY were having an amazing total body care and candle sale.  I also had some amazing coupons, so once again, your girl did some small damage.

After that, we headed out to find lunch.  There were so many options around us, but we decided to check out a restaurant we had heard so much about, Georgia Blue.  I loved that the menus were made to look like a Mississippi license plate!

I saw they had shrimp and grits, so that’s what I ordered, and honestly, it was enough to feed three people!

I didn’t really read the whole description, but I didn’t care for the corn in the grits or the tomatoes and bacon in the sauce.  You can order it without it, so if we go there again, I know better.  But really, it was just SO much.  I probably could have gotten a child’s entree and been just fine.  I really could have just enjoyed the salad I got and been fine.  It was also big for a side salad, but it was delicious!

After that lunch, we were done for the day, so we headed home.  We had a relaxing Saturday.  Well, I did, anyway.  Hubby can’t sit still, so he went to check on some work things and ran an errand for my mama.  I rested, because traveling just takes the wind out of my sails.  I napped and did the bare minimum.  On Sunday, Hubby went to my aunt’s church at 9:00 AM, and then we headed to my church at 11:00. It was a big day at church because we voted in a new pastor after several long months of searching.  I enjoy his sermons, and he is eager to build up our membership and serve the community; we are eager to help with this.  I think this is just what our church has needed, as membership and attendance have dwindled to dismal numbers in the last few years.  There were many factors behind this, and I know I played a part, but I am ready to make church a priority in my life again, and I’m excited to see our church family grow.  After church, hubby and I went to another local restaurant and had lunch.  It was wonderful.  We visited with my mama after that, and I was finally able to crash for a nap close to 3:00 PM.  I woke up around 6, and we watched the Ole Miss v. Kentucky football game on TV.  We were glad our Ole Miss Rebels won the game!

On today’s agenda: I’ve got to run to the post office, then I’ll check on my mama and visit with her for a while.  I would love to get some vacuuming done, but we will see how I am feeling. It sure is hard to get out and about in these 100-degree temps!  Fall, where are you??  Anyway, I hope you have a great Tuesday!
