I recently had the pleasure of getting a sneak peek at a fellow blogger and Young Adult Christian Fiction author Rene’ Morris‘ new book titled Summer Secrets, the first book in her new series Sonshine Girls.

A new girl, Kristin, comes to town, and a group of three friends quickly becomes four. Kristin is immediately confronted by the church bully, Greta, and has to learn how to deal with harassment in a Christian manner. But, there’s a bigger secret lurking in this little town church. A secret between Ellie and Alma that has lasted over 50 years. What could it be? See how the girls, and adults, learn how to extend forgiveness and understanding to their friends as well as their enemies.

I was impressed with how genuine the characters in the book were and Rene’ did a fantastic job of weaving values and good learning points in a book that will surely appeal to young girls. I passed this book along to a little girl in my church who loves to read. She read the book in 3 days and eagerly asks me all the time when the next book will be out!

Rene’ is the author of the blog Cheaper by the Half Dozen and her book Summer Secrets can be purchased at Amazon or Summertime Books.

I read this book too and did the same thing. I gave is as a gift to a family at church who has 3 nice girls, one 13 and two younger. I thought it was a good book for girls. Check out my review of it at
