Sugar-Free Spiced Apple Cider

Posted on October 23, 2011January 10, 2016 by Mandy

Besides not being able to enjoy all of the amazingly sweet treats during the holidays (but yeah…sometimes I do sneak a little), one thing I dearly love is spiced apple cider, but it’s also full of sugar. My mom makes her own mix of it, and of course I think it’s the best, but since it’s loaded with sugar, it’s not something I can drink very often.

Yesterday while cruising the beverage aisle in the grocery store, I spotted Alpine’s Sugar Free Spiced Apple Cider. Discovering something that I love in a sugar free form always makes me excited, but a little part of me always figures it probably won’t taste just as good. That’s a problem I find with a lot of sugar free foods…the taste just isn’t the same as the sugary-laden versions. I decided to purchase it anyway, and I am so glad I did because it was amazing!

On thing I did do is to add a couple of packets of Splenda to my drink. I like my drinks really sweet. But overall, this sugar-free spiced apple cider was fabulous and I am so excited I don’t have to miss out on my favorite drink during the holidays!

Live Smart-Parents.com Giveaway

Posted on October 22, 2011January 10, 2016 by Mandy

Since becoming a parent, I realize now more than ever that staying healthy to insure that I am around to see all of my son’s milestones is such an important thing. Do I always make the healthiest decisions? No, but it’s always on my mind and something I strive for each day, even if my progress seems slow.  One thing my son and I have been doing almost everyday after school for the past couple of months is taking short walks down the street and playing a little basketball.  It really does get my heart pumping and I know the extra exercise is a great thing for both of us.

The idea behind Parents.com’s  “Live Smart” page, as well as HealthyIs.Aetna.com, came about from the discovery that many parents and moms with kids in the household have a recommitment to health and want to dig into learning more about their health.  They want to take matters into their own hands and be able to make more informed decisions about health care and living healthier for the sake of their children.  Furthermore, they’re looking for ways to live healthier to help them drive down costs of medical expenses so they have money to use on more fun recreational activities with their kids.  Aetna wants to make sure they are providing helpful information to everyone, not just its members, so you’ll find an interactive poll sponsored by Aetna on the right side of the Live Smart page and if you click on one of the answers it will take you to a downloadable guide with tips on healthier living as well as money-saving tips when it comes to health care.  And who doesn’t need or want to save on that?
