Nuts are a staple in most of our holiday recipes around our home.  I use them in several of my holiday recipes and love the texture and flavor that they add to these dishes, not to mention, they’re just plain great to snack on by themselves.  Chef Alex has compiled a list of 10 Simple Twists for Cooking With Nuts that you will absolutely want to check out before you begin your holiday cooking to get the most out of using nuts in your recipes or just for snacking.  If you are like me and need a little visual inspiration for incorporating nuts into your dishes, Chef Alex also has 9 great-looking recipes to try out using Fisher brand nuts.

Be sure to follow Chef Alex on Twitter and like Fisher Nuts Facebook page to learn about even more great way to jazz up your dishes with nuts.

A Bookish Countdown To Christmas- A New Holiday Tradition!

Posted on December 2, 2012January 10, 2016 by Mandy

Do you have holiday traditions that your family always looks forward to each year?  We have a few, but I have always wanted to add a few more to make this time of the year really special for my son.  So why haven’t I done this yet?  Lack of creativity, I suppose.  I wanted something a little different, yet meaningful.  But the biggest stipulation of all?  It had to make my son really excited!

I think we have discovered it, y’all.

This year Harper Collins Children’s hopes to start a new tradition in every family with A Bookish Countdown to Christmas.  Essentially, your child would have a book to unwrap everyday from December 1st through December 25th.  25 days of amazing books and reading!

We were sent a stack of 25 wrapped books to try this out with our son this year.  I don’t know who was more excited, him or me!  He couldn’t believe they were all for him and couldn’t wait to open them all.  He was a little disappointed to find out that we had to open just one a day, but that didn’t last long when I let him open his first book.

See that happy face?  He unwrapped Pete the Cat Saves Christmas as his first book.  I’ve decided to let him open one each night before bedtime so we can read it together.

I’ll be documenting this new Christmas tradition for our family throughout the next three weeks here on my blog and I encourage you to try this out with your family.  I can already tell this is going to be one tradition we keep!

I received books from Harper Collins Children’s to facilitate this post.  No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

Stuff Your Stockings With Mrs. Meyer’s Holiday Gift Sets

Posted on November 27, 2012January 10, 2016 by Mandy

I discovered Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products awhile back when my mom came home with a bottle of hand soap she had purchased.  It was the best smelling hand soap and I was intrigued because I had never heard of the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day product line.  Since then, I have made several purchases of those hand soaps and I just can’t get enough!

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day is an eco-friendly, affordable line of aromatherapeutic household cleaners, laundry care and baby products that combine hardworking, naturally occurring ingredients and essential oils that are tough on dirt, yet gentle on your home and earth. Available in garden-fresh scents of Basil, Lavender, Lemon Verbena, Geranium, Baby Blossom, Bluebell and Rosemary, these products are biodegradable, packaged in recyclable bottles, don’t include ammonia, chlorine bleach, parabens or phosphates and are never tested on animals.

This holiday season, treat those who appreciate great smelling candles with Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day limited edition Holiday Candle Tins.

The tins come in two scents.  Choose from Orange Clove or Iowa Pine.  Each aromatherapeutic and eco-conscience soy candle smells great and retails for just $2.50 at Target stores nationwide.  They make a great stocking stuffer or holiday happy!  The Orange Clove is my very favorite and makes our home smell just like the holidays!

You can also purchase Mrs. Meyer’s Season’s Cleaning Holiday Gift Sets, which include a hand soap, countertop spray, and liquid dish soap, all packaged in a festive holiday box and ready for gift giving!  These are $11.99 and also come in the Iowa Pine and Orange Clove scents.

For each purchase made of these holiday Season’s Cleaning sets, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Arbor Day Foundation, a non-profit conservation and education organization of one million members who are committed to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.

I can think of several people on my holiday list who would love these products and I plan to purchase a few sets for gift-giving.  Be sure and add these great smelling gifts to your holiday shopping list!

I was sent the candle tins pictured above to help facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.
