Orbit For Kids

Posted on July 28, 2013January 10, 2016 by Mandy

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Orbit for Kids. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Good oral hygiene for kids is so important.  We learned that early on when my son had to have a dental procedure done at the hospital when he was three years old.  He brushed daily, but still ended up with four teeth that needed caps.  Since then, I make a point to make sure he has brushed his teeth each day and try to limit his sugar intake to avoid this problem again.  He has lost many of those baby teeth since, but I want to make sure his permanent teeth are as strong and as healthy as they can be.  This is sometimes a struggle because he hates to brush, hates the taste of most toothpastes, and just puts up a huge fuss in general.  To help with this, he has a toothbrush that flashes a light that lets him know how long he needs to keep brushing.  I’ve found a toothpaste he tolerates at best, so along with the fun toothbrush, he manages to get the job done daily.

One thing my son loves more than anything is gum and candy.  It seems as if he is always coming home with gum and candy from school, church, and even the barber shop when he gets a haircut.  I don’t mind him having a little, but he sometimes gets carried away thinking he needs several pieces of gum at once.  I was a kid too at one point, so I totally get that gum loses its flavor and sometimes you just need a little more.   Thankfully, Orbit for Kids is sugar-free, so I don’t worry as much.  Chewing Orbit for Kids is beneficial for my son in two ways:  it helps clean his mouth of food debris and it also stimulates saliva flow, which helps protect teeth from plaque acids and strengthening them.

When used with brushing, flossing, and rinsing with mouth wash, Orbit for Kids is a fun option for kids to help take care of their teeth.  The gum comes in two flavors kids will love- original Bubblegum and Strawberry Banana.  Available nationwide as of late July, Orbit for Kids has been awarded the ADA Seal of Acceptance.  That alone makes me feel better!

My son loved the Strawberry-Banana flavored Orbits for Kids gum so much that I’m finding little gum wrappers all over the house.  Clearly, he approves.

Conserve Water This Summer- WaterSavers Giveaway #sponsored

Posted on July 25, 2013January 10, 2016 by Mandy

I love taking our car through the car wash and I actually have a favorite one in town that I prefer to go to because the soap smells so good when the car is being washed. I know.

I used to hand wash my cars when I was younger (think teens and twenties), but now that I’m older and a mom,  I’m just too busy or pressed for time to do it myself.  And that’s ok, because a study by the City of Federal Way, Wash., found that residential car washing led to numerous pollutants being released each year into their storm sewer system, including 190 gallons of gasoline, diesel and motor oil; 400 pounds of phosphorus and nitrogen; and 60 pounds of ammonia.  Wow!

Washing at home with a garden hose can use more than 60 gallons in as little as five minutes, but most professional car washes treat and recycle water, virtually eliminating waste. The average homeowner uses 116 gallons of water to wash a car, according to the Mid-America Regional Council, and most commercial car washes use 60 percent less water for the entire process than a homeowner uses just to rinse the car.

WaterSavers professional car washes use only 40 gallons or less of fresh water per car wash – that’s less than the typical home washing machine uses per load. The process cleans and re-uses the water for future car washes, or it undergoes treatment prior to returning it clean to the environment. Four years ago I made this post about how my son shined his behind in my cousin’s wedding.  Yesterday while cleaning out a drawer, I found the old camera it was recorded on and popped out the memory card to see if I could salvage the video.  It came right up, so I played around and edited it down to his performance.

You needed a laugh, right?
