I’m a Febreze spraying fool around my house and have been hooked on this product ever since it came out. There’s just nothing better than a clean, fresh smelling house, unless, maybe someone else cleaning the house for you. In any case, I was pleased to see that Febreze has come out with a handy, compact size bottle of their air refresher called Febreze To Go. At just 2.8 oz, it’s perfect for keeping in the car for a quick spray every now and then. Like when you pick up take-out and the smell lingers in your car. Eww.

The weekend before last was a busy one here at our house. Before we had E.B., the hubby and I put up a few Halloween decorations, handed out candy on Halloween night and called it good. Once E.B. came along, however, hubby insisted he would have a carved pumpkin every year from now on and he has. I certainly don’t begrudge my child a pumpkin, but I’m a lousy pumpkin carver. I certainly don’t have the patience to turn out the ones you see in the fru-fru home and garden magazines, so as long as hubby wants to take that job on, it’s fine by me.
So he did.
And this is the end result.
And while he and E.B. were working on that, I actually whipped up a roast. And it actually tasted good.
And for dessert we dined on the finest Halloween cookies that Kroger makes (and E.B. pitched a fit for at the store).
Do you have any idea how much of a mess all of those sprinkles make? In any case, we’ve decided to make pumpkin carving, roast cooking, and cookie-eating a family tradition that will take place before Halloween from now on. Or at least try to, anyway.

I am thoroughly proud of the progress E.B. is making in preschool. He has really blown us away with some of the things he comes home telling us about. It’s definitely been money well spent. However, there’s just this teensy little habit he has picked up while there and it’s getting just a teensy little bit annoying. My baby is now a tattle-tail.
Poor thing. He has no brothers or sisters so he had no idea that things such as the cat touching him, the cat looking at him, and even the cat breathing the same air (the very idea!) as him was such an issue to be concerned over. The first few times he tattled it flew right over my head. I have worked with kids. I know they have complaints from time to time when all is not right in their world. But then I started hearing the following things:
“Maaaaaamaaaaaaa!!! Bonnie touched!!” (Bonnie is the cat)
“Maaaaaamaaaaaa!!! Cwyde jumpin’ on da table!!” (Clyde is our other cat)
“Maaaaaaamaaaaa!!! Kitty not eat his foooood!!”
Needless to say, I now enjoy a daily play-by-play of everything our cats do from sun-up to sun-down. I know if they’re sitting on the couch, using the litter box, and sleeping.
I also know what every child in his class has done at school on a particular day, who got time out, and what they ate for lunch. I’m thinking this might be valuable information for those parents who actually want to know every small detail of what their child is doing AND for the busy teacher who has no time to keep up with such things. Perhaps I should offer a service for that. After all, my son knows it all.
And tells it all.
I must confess. I’ve always wanted to write a children’s book. As a young child, I used to write stories and even published a neighborhood newspaper with some of my friends.
