FYI

Posted on August 15, 2010August 31, 2010 by Mandy

Just wanted to let my readers know that I’m in the process of having my blog switched to WordPress, so if things seem a little out of sort in here for a day or so, please hang in there with me.

The First Day of School (Over a 3 Year Span)

  3K   100_86352010_0812rainyday0030

Every year he’s getting a little bigger.  This is one of our “traditional” first day of school pictures.  It started as just an “outtake” of the first day of school shots, but I did it the next year, too…and now this year.  I’m happy to report E.B. did fantastic and is so excited about 4K.  He came home literally bouncing off the walls and then promptly crashed and took a two hour nap (it was a half-day, so he needed that nap!).

My Kind of Rain

Posted on August 7, 2010September 8, 2010 by Mandy

It’s a rainy Saturday morning here.  I woke up and the house was very dark and quiet, save for the faint rumbles of thunder.  I never can seem to sleep late on a Saturday morning, but was surprised when the alarm clock proved me wrong by informing me that it was, indeed, 10:00 A.M.  For some reason I feel guilty when I sleep late.  I’m normally up by 6 A.M. even on days I don’t have to work.

E.B. and I ran uptown and got Taco Bell and McDonald’s for lunch.  He’s been playing with Lego’s, and playing with L.J. inside his Thomas the Tank Engine pop-up tent.

He’s also been puddle jumping and “rain dancing”.

It’s only 1 P.M. and I feel a nap coming on already.  I’m sure it’s the weather.

Poker Face

I think it is safe to assume that E.B. is not impressed with the new kitten and is also, therefore, not completely smitten with this little ball of fur.  Nope.  Not one bit.  At all.

Clean+Green by SeaYu

Posted on August 5, 2010September 8, 2010 by Mandy

If you are a pet owner, you can probably attest to the fact that sometimes our beloved pets leave some not-so-nice surprises for us indoors.  And, those not-so-nice surprises can leave lasting effects in the way of stains on carpet and furniture.  Before you throw your hands up in defeat, let me tell you about the success we’ve had with some products from Clean+Green by SeaYu.  Clean+Green generously provided me with these products for review purposes.

Carpet stains are a major battle in our household.  Not only do we have cats, we also have a child who has spilled drinks and food.  I found that the Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner not only successfully removed stains, but it also removed pet smells.  That’s something another leading household product we’ve tried could never do.

We also tried the Litter Box Cleaner & Odor Removal.  I was very impressed with this one, also.  You can spray this directly into the litter box at any time and it removes any unpleasant lingering smells.

I’m very hesitant to try new products around our cats because one is highly sensitive, but we’ve had no problems with Clean+Green products and the entire line is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.

These products range in price from $7.99-$9.99, come in formulas made for cats, dogs, small cage animals and birds, and can be purchased directly from the site or you can use the store locator to find a dealer near you.

Overall, the results I have had using these products were very positive and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to my readers.

Well, it’s now Day 4 of Ohmygawditissofreakinhawt!!! and the picture above was taken inside my car yesterday at 6:30 PM.  It has consistently reached 105 everyday since Sunday.  We’ve lost power a couple of times in the late afternoon, but it hasn’t lasted for more than about 45 minutes at a time.  Still, for the elderly and sick, that’s quite a bit of time without cool air.  Hopefully the rains will come tonight and we can get a little relief.

And the monkey grass is burning to a crisp.

These are the dog days of a Mississippi summer.  But since I don’t have a dog, here’s a cat snoozing in a shady spot.

How hot is it where you are?  Do you have Mississippi beat today?
