If you’ve never worked retail during the Christmas holidays I am here to tell you that it’s HARD work. My feet are killing me, I’m mentally and physically exhausted, and I honestly don’t know if I am coming or going.

Although we are in tough economic times and we live in a small town, the bookstore I work at is doing wonderfully this holiday season. From the time we open until the last customer leaves we stay extremely busy. It’s hard work, but we have the best customers and I work for the best bosses. Somehow through the craziness we still laugh and have fun and the day seems to pass quickly.

It’s a far cry from the lazy holiday time off I got when teaching, but it’s been hectic and fun and I have never slept better in my whole life. And we still have three more full days of madness ahead of us.

Oh I worked the retail seen for years and I hated the holiday’s because of it. It is hard work and people are not always very nice or patient. I think I am a nicer shopper from all those years of retail. I still get mad sometimes in a store but I always put it in perspective. Just think it will all be over soon….

    Merry Christmas!!!

I know how hard retail can be – hang in there! If I had to choose, I’d work at a bookstore – I love the aroma of new books. But alas, Borders always passes on my application saying I’m over-qualified. Or could it be that they see the addict in me, just jonsing to be in the company of books? 🙂

Anyone who works retail during the holidays is far far braver than I. No freakin way i could do it without decking at least one snooty chopper.

Merry Christmas to you and yours 🙂

I have done that, also, and I wish you strength and endurance during these hectic hours leading up to the Birth Day. When it comes, I wish for you and yours a Blessed Celebration!

I hear you, I worked retail at Christmas in college. Man, some people can be nasty! But although it was hard work, it was kind of fun at the same time. Definitely festive! Get some rest!

Being happy at work is a rare thing—busy and happy sounds like a perfect match! Hope the next few days go well– have your hubby give you a foot massage, hehe!
