Batter Up!

I was never an organized sports kind of kid growing up.  I attempted to play t-ball for one season and was *that* kid who played short stop and did everything but stop a ball because I was in my own little world.  While running the bases once, my coach screamed, “GO HOME!!  GO HOME!!!!”.  Can you guess which direction I took off in?  Yep, I was headed for MY home when they had to turn me around.

E.B. played two seasons of t-ball and sat out last year, which would have been his first year of Coach Pitch.  Frankly, at the time it was a relief because I was convinced that this kid was me made over when it came to sports.  He balked about going to practice and whined during the games, preferring to sit with me in the stands instead of the dugout.  Of course, we (my husband and I, along with my parents and a few family friends) loved watching him play, but I could tell he wasn’t interested.

Can you guess what we’re up to this spring?

Someone has had a serious change of heart about baseball.  We’ve been excited about practices, paying attention at practice, and mighty proud of ourselves when we hit a ball that’s NOT sitting on a tee this year.  Granted, he hasn’t played his first game yet, and Lord knows these practices after a long work day and commute is killing this mama, but I’m so glad he’s giving baseball another chance.
