On Friday, E.B.’s class went on a field trip to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson. Our son has been so excited about this field trip, and not because he was going somewhere cool. He was much more thrilled that there was NO SCHOOL that day.
My husband was the one who got the honors of accompanying him on this field trip and I was very thankful he could be home to do that. It’s testing/crunch time at the school where I work, so being out really wasn’t a good option for me.
They saw it all….bones, fossils, real fish, snakes, and alligators, and the list went on and on. He was amazed at the huge snapping turtle and witnessed a snake eating a mouse. He loved the Pearl River Aquarium, a display featuring the aquatic life of the Pearl River.
The kids finished off their field trip with a picnic lunch at LeFleur’s Bluff State Park, which is right next door to the museum. E.B. was super impressed with their playground and played his heart out. Naturally, he looked like this on the way home:
I’m so glad he got to experience these things. Especially with his dad.
