When I was growing up, there used to be a commercial for a business on our local TV station, and at the end of every commercial this particular place of business did, they reminded folks that might be stopping in to “wear your coat; there’s no heat!” That would certainly explain the past week around my house!
Baby, It’s COLD Outside
I had high hopes of blogging last week, but all that got blown out of the water on Monday. To make a long story short, our heater completely died in the house on Monday evening when it just happened to be 18 degrees outside. I spent all day Tuesday at my mama’s house, staying warm while the Teen was at school. The repairman was scheduled to be at our house around 4:00 PM, and he showed up. After hunting down a new motor, he got us up and running again! Thank the Lord! It got down to 52 degrees in our house! And while that might not sound too terrible, believe me, it really was. Our downstairs is a little drafty, and the temps outside in the teens did NOT help!
It was still a little after 10 PM before the house finally reached 72 degrees, just in time for bedtime! After that ordeal, I have a new appreciation for my heater, and I will never complain about how hot it gets upstairs anymore in winter!
Falling Behind
Another day last week was spent getting Mama to another appointment out of town in preparation for her minor skin surgery this week. We had to travel on yet another bitterly cold day, so I feel like I froze to death last week! Haha! It just seemed like I was behind on so much, and I still am. I am making my way around to visiting blogs.
Historic Southern Snow
But let’s talk about that SNOW some of you got last week! I was so excited for my more southern friends and family who saw a BIG snow! It was so weird because it was completely above and below us and spared our area, which I am thankful for now that we were without heat for a day! Haha! We did see a few flurries, and I took a picture of one that landed on something outside, reminding me of a star.
But I loved looking at all the pictures of this historic snowfall. How weird to see snow on the Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida beaches! I know it was fun for the kids (and the big kids, too), and getting to have a snow day when you never have is really fun, too! I know we haven’t even gotten to February, when we have our best chance of snow here, but I’m ready for spring. It will be warming up for us this week, although we have rain in the forecast, and I am so thankful!
Up Next
The first part of this week will be busy. I have a rheumatologist appointment, and Mama has her procedure appointment, both out of town. After that, I hope we will not have to travel for a while anymore. She remarked last week that she would tell her doctors out of town that she would not make any more appointments from October to April. And while I can get on board with that, I know that sometimes it just can’t be helped. I’m thankful the Teen can help us get to these appointments because I can’t push her wheelchair. I never imagined myself being in such rough shape at this age, but here we are, and we must carry on the best we can.
Anyway, I hope you have a good Monday, and I will hopefully check in again soon!

That is cold without a heater! I am glad y’all have it replaced now. The snow down south was so funny to see! I hope all the appointments are going well this week.

I’d be freezing, too, if the temperature inside the house was in the 50s. Brr! I’m glad you were able to be with your mother while the heat was out and you were able to get the heater repaired the very next day.
Hope your medical appointments go well and your Mama’s procedure is successful.

I was just thinking the other day that we don’t have a good alternative for heat if our electricity goes out. I’m glad you got yours fixed quickly. I imagine with those cold temps, the repair people were busy. I think anything in the 50s would be very cold, but my sister, who lives in Maine, keeps her house at 55 to save on big heating bills. They just wear a lot of layers.

Hello lovely Lady!
I’m so glad you go the heater issues sorted. It is crazy all the things we just take for granted in our daily lives, isn’t it? It was so crazy to see all that snow down south! We’re so used to it here in the northwoods and are prepared for it with equipment etc. I saw how it sure threw folks down there for a loop! I’m glad you were spared.
I hope you & your Mom don’t have too many more MD appts anytime soon. It does get to feel like a lot!
Blessings. xo

So glad they made it that quickly to get you fixed up! Funny if it gets to 50’s here outside, I would be out without a coat. Inside I would be freezing! All perspective, I guess.
It was amazing that so many that never get snow, got it last week.
Stay warm!

Oh no! Of all the times to have your heat go out. A friend also had her furnace go out last week when it was so cold here. Glad you are fixed and warm again.
I had to take my daughter to a few appts in the last few weeks too and I told her, lets just have summer appts from now on. 🙂
I like your snowflake photo!

Oh no! Glad it’s warm in your house again. We’ve lost power in snowstorms and it’s brutal…we need to hover around the fireplace and sleep in the living room to stay warm. The kids used to love it, it was like camping, but after one night the fun would wear off. Haha!!
