Good morning! It’s time for some Tuesday morning rambles! Haha! I was certainly on the struggle bus this morning and did NOT want to get out of bed. We returned from my mom’s appointment in Jackson yesterday evening at about 7:00 PM, and we were exhausted! However, Jake wanted to play musical doors and didn’t want to come in until after 10 PM. He stayed inside yesterday while we were gone, and he was a little stir-crazy and wanted to be outside when we got back. But I slept very well. I just could have used a little more sleep!
Traveling to the Hospital
We arrived at the hospital at about 12:15 PM. The Teen went along to push his grandma in the wheelchair. He’s been such a lifesaver in helping me get her to appointments. We have to do a lot of walking in the hospital, and that alone wears me out.
She was taken to her first test relatively quickly, so the Teen and I headed downstairs to the gift shop. We forgot to bring a phone charger, so we picked one up, and then I stopped at the little coffee place and got a cappuccino. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the top to add in my Splenda and discovered this little heart in the foam!
Mama had two more tests, and she got through all of them with flying colors! We don’t know any results yet, but I was so proud of her for being so brave. She did great! It was close to 4 PM before we could finally leave, and we were all starving! Mama couldn’t have anything to eat or drink at 10:30 that morning, and the Teen and I only snacked between breakfast and that time. We decided to hit up Olive Garden on our way home. I had lots and lots of salad! Their salad is just out of this world good!
I decided to order the lasagna for my meal. It was really good, but the portion was huge! I ate a few bites and took the rest home.
We didn’t get home until around 7 PM, and I was so thankful when we finally arrived. I am not used to traveling interstates, and the traffic was awful as far as people driving dangerously. I was also driving my mama’s car, which I wasn’t used to. I was extremely nervous and scanning the road constantly for deer crossing. I hate we were dark getting in because I don’t drive the best at night. But we made it! We have to make the same trip very early on Thursday morning for her heart catheterization.
New Bedding
I mentioned I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning, and part of the reason for that is that I love my new sheets!
I ordered a new set of the best sheets from Target, and they feel so wonderful! It took a couple of washings to sort of “break them in,” but they have so many cute designs and sleep so well! They are made of 100% cotton, but my usual favorite is percale sheets from back in the day! My mom always bought the best sheets when I was growing up. They were super soft and so comfy! It’s hard to find true percale sheets anymore. The closest I came was this set from Brooklinen. I ordered a set during the pandemic, and they lasted us about three years, which is pretty good for how often I washed them. However, I had to go with something more affordable this time. If you use a body pillow like I do, then THIS body pillowcase I found on eBay will be your new favorite! It is super soft. None of these are microfiber or polyester. I strongly disdain polyester, which I will probably discuss in another post. Haha! So, getting out of bed has been just a liittttttlle harder on these cold mornings!
Well, I need to get started on the morning chores. I have some things I want to list on eBay and always some laundry to catch up on! I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

I’m glad your Mother’s tests went well. How sweet of your tennager to help his grandmother and you out. Your little foam heart was meant just for you. Those sheets are beautiful. And we ate at Olive Garden recently too. Your salad looks delicious and I really like their lasagne. I had the cheese ravioli, which is so good. I hope you have a terrific weekend,
Mandy says
Thanks for stopping in, Belinda! I have also been wanting to try the cheese ravioli there, but I get nervous to order something I haven’t tried there before! Haha! I should just take a chance. I’m sure it’s all good!

Hey Carrie! Yes, I don’t know what I would do without this kid of mine. He is such a huge help!

I hope today’s procedure went as well as Tuesday’s test. Olive Garden is a favorite of mine and the portions are huge. Always something to bring home which is fine by me. I got new sheets for Christmas. I have loved them. I like cotton sheets that feel rough a little bit. I am not a silky sheet girl. Crisp is more my style. I always associate January with the time to buy sheets. I rarely shop much but back in the day it seemed like that was the month for sales on them:)
Mandy says
Hi Sandy! So glad you could stop in! I never even thought about sheets being on sale in January, but you are right! I’ll have to remember that for next year. It’s time to update sheets, towels, etc. We’ve used ours for many, many years!

That was a long day, but, glad your mom’s tests went well. Hope the results will be all good, too. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to the Olive Garden, but, I love their lasagna! Very pretty sheet set! 🙂

Thanks, Bless! Yes, I am so thankful my mama has done so well thus far! We don’t get to the Olive Garden very often, either, but I sure do enjoy it when we do!

Hello! I am glad your Mom did well getting her tests and that they are done, and you are all Home, Sweet Home. And it is hard having our kids grow up, but it is wonderful when they are grown, and they can help with their grandparents. It is bittersweet. Have a cozy evening. And I love Target!
Mandy says
Target is so fun! Like Olive Garden, it’s two hours away, so it’s always fun to get to visit them! The sheets are proving to be amazing! Thanks for stopping in and checking on me!

Glad it all went well! I know that must’ve been a stressful day. Love the sheets, the color and pattern are so pretty!
Mandy says
Thanks, Kim! Yep, definitely stressful, but so thankful for good results!

I’m glad your mother’s tests are done and went well. Hoping all is a go for Thursday. I know that everyone will be glad when the procedure is over. Sending prayers your way.
I really like the salad at Olive Garden, too, although we rarely go.
Mandy says
Thank you! And yes, I could have sat there and ate my weight in that salad! Haha!
