Traveling for Appointments

Traveling for appointments is the only traveling I get to do these days.  The hubby and I had to travel to our endocrinologist appointment on Monday morning.  The Teen decided he didn’t want to make this trip, so he stayed behind.  Our doctor had moved to a new location.  She had a beautiful new office built just down the road from where she originally was, and we were so impressed!  We also bumped into several other people we knew from our town!

We both got good reports on our A1C!  Adding insulin was what my body needed to start bringing my numbers down.  This is monumental because I have struggled mightily with my blood sugar since my heart surgery in 2016.  My iron and B12 looked good, too.  The only problem was my Vitamin D was a little low, so she prescribed me a pill to take once a week for that.  My cholesterol is also awful, so I’m back on an injectable medication for that.  I’m praying that will help.

Grabbing Lunch

After our appointment, we needed to stop by Sam’s for a few items, so we decided to eat lunch at Cracker Barrel since it was in the same vicinity.  Cracker Barrel has some seriously cute clothes and home decor items!  I could have spent all day looking at everything in there!

Nothing really sounded great on the menu except breakfast food, so I got a breakfast platter with eggs, bacon, and French toast. Would you look at the size of this French toast?!

I wasn’t expecting that, but I could only eat a few bites.  It was pretty good, but I make better French toast at home.  Haha!  However, the eggs and bacon were great!

The best thing about Cracker Barrel is its country store! I could have spent a whole day looking at all the cute things there. Their clothes are just so stinking cute!  I wanted one of everything!

Restocking

The next stop was Sam’s Club to restock on a few things we needed around the home. I looked for a scooter cart, but I guess they were all in use. I just got what we needed, and hubby looked around more. I just cannot walk that whole store. I wish I could because they have so much to see! We mainly needed paper products and some over-the-counter medications we use.  We grabbed those, and we were on our way back home.  I did ok until we were almost home, and then my legs started hurting badly.  We grabbed some supper uptown once we made it in, and I hit the bed before 8 PM!  I slept solidly until about 3:00 AM, so I got up and read a book for a while, then rested a little more.  Traveling wears me out!  But I’m thankful I didn’t feel as rough as I did a few weeks ago when we had to make the trip with my mama.

Speaking of my mama, she has been doing great since her TAVR surgery! I am so very thankful her recovery has gone so well, and she is finally able to venture out once again. She feels so much better, and I am so proud of her for being brave to get this done!  Thank you all so much for the prayers and good wishes for her.

I really enjoy Cracker Barrel and love to look around at all their pretties. And their food is so good!

I’m glad you’re responding well to insulin. That will probably be my next step.

I’m glad to hear that your mama is doing well.

    Have a lovely weekend.

It has been years since I’ve been to a Cracker Barrel, but that French toast looks delicious. Good thing there is not one near me this morning!

Hello! I’m so glad you were able to get the appointment in and make a few stops along the way. I also love French Toast, but I think mine is better than any restaurant’s! I hope you are relaxing and cozy and having a lovely summer thus far!

There are no Cracker Barrels anywhere near us, so when we’re on the road and see one, we always stop! I think the closest one is about 3 hours away. Definitely too long a trip for breakfast! Haha!! Happy Father’s Day to your hubby!!

Hoping all is better soon for you. Vitamin D is huge and most of us seem to be low whether it is the food supply or our lack of outside time …who knows? I realized many many years ago on my own that vitamin D made a huge difference in my joint pain. I think I had read an article and just decided to give it a try.

I like cracker barrel too, such a fun store. I often get the french toast (it’s good at our location) but then I take half home for the next day and it heats ok.
So glad your mom is doing well!

I could browse all day at Cracker Barrel if it weren’t so crowded. And it would be even more fun if I had a lot of money with me dedicated to just buying things in their store. : )

Glad your mom is doing well and hope you feel better soon. That is nice that you at least were able to make the day out of your doctor’s appointment outing. Enjoy your weekend!
