    We try to prepare the night before but it doesn’t always happen. So we will just get up a little earlier and go from there. Less chaos and smiles on our faces.

    I try and turn home work assignments into a game or fun way of doing it so its easier to get the rest of the things we have to do that nite to get ready for the next day and he actually enjoys homework.

    Set the amount for a clothing budget and then let the kids choose their school clothes, within reason. Guaranteed, they won’t want to get the $120 jeans when the budget is $300.

    My tip is to continue to work with your kids all summer on subjects like math, reading, spelling etc…If they go back to school confident it makes all the difference. We also have bins for differrent subjects and pre-make meals to save time.

    Organize your child’s wardrobe (hang matching tops and bottoms on one hanger) to minimize the time it takes to get ready and end any confusion about whether something matches or not.

    I do menu planning for the week on Sundays. It makes things simpler when we know what we are going to eat. I also lay out clothes and get backpacks packed up the night before. It saves me from many major headaches 🙂

    My tip is to plan ahead and get as much as possible organized and ready the night before: lay out clothes; check backpack and leave it by the door; put non-perishables in lunchbox; have rest of lunch ready and in refrigerator or freezer all ready to place into lunchbox.

    My biggest tip is to organize your school area (we school at home) and get lots of pencils, a good pencil sharpener, and lots of computer paper and ink.

    Do homework first thing when you get home from school. It will make everyone crabby if you’re scrambling to get it done right before bedtime or first thing in the morning.

    My daughter has to have her clothes “laid” out the night before–being a teeny bopper she likes to change her mind several times about what to wear-but changing her mind is not an option once they’re laid out…also books in backpack,notes signed etc the night before

    We get a desk top calendar and write in all the dates such as band, appts, after school activities and assignment dates. We check it each day to make sure we don’t forget anything that is needed for the day.

    I do everything the night before. I lay out the outfits, get the cereal bowls ready, set out coats and shoes, pack lunches, and bathe everyone. It saves so much time in the mornings.

    I don’t have kids but my husband is a teacher and gets up way before the crack of dawn…he picks out his outfits the night before and has everything ready to go so he doesn’t have to think that early in the morning!
