Things In My Bradford Pear Tree

Spread the love

Lately, I have seen some interesting things in my Bradford pear tree.  It’s my very favorite tree in my backyard and one that is quite popular amongst the backyard critters.  Here are a few I recently caught red-handed!

The Kittens

This little kitty baby crawls into this very spot every day and takes a nap.  He is the runt of the litter and is so cute and small.

He will sleep there for hours.  I just love watching him.

Here is his brother.  Is there anything cuter than kitty booties hanging in a tree?  No, indeed, there is not!  Haha!

Bigger Brother (from the same litter) prefers to stretch and contort himself and gets really comfortable.

The Squirrel

Sunday morning, I caught this squirrel trying his best to figure out how he could reach my bird feeder.  Naughty squirrel!

He paced back and forth on that branch for several minutes before finally giving up.  All he had to do was crawl underneath, but I guess it was more effort than he wanted to expend in that moment.  I’m glad he moved along to the next tree, and I hope the squirrels won’t become a nuisance at the bird feeder.

The Bird Feeder

Here is my bird feeder that hubby hung up for me.  I think I mentioned that I paid $3 for this in our church’s yard sale a few months ago.

I’m sad to say I have yet to see a single customer at my new birdie cafe. I think the birds aren’t paying attention because food is so plentiful in my backyard.  I’m always throwing out old bread or crackers, and I’m sure they find plenty of worms when it rains.  In any case, I told hubby we would probably see more action when the tree sheds its leaves and it gets colder.  The birds will surely be grateful for it in the wintertime.

I was curious to see how much a bird feeder like this costs at full price, and it’s not too bad at all (similar one here).  However, that was a mistake because then I found a ton of other cute bird feeders that I think I’ll eventually need.  Haha!  I really would love a window bird feeder.  I think that it might be exciting to watch and see the birds up close!

I love the kittens in the tree!
That was a great deal on the bird feeder.
We had one that hung on the window when our kids were little. The birds got so used to seeing us on the other side of the glass that we could open the window, put birdseed in our hand and sit with our hand open. They would eat right from our hands!

Birds are fun to watch. The neighbor at our Auburn house has a bird feeder that can be seen from the couch. She has tons visit and I love watching. She does the work and I enjoy.
