When you think of heart surgery, it’s hard to come up with anything positive if you have to go through the experience.  You may be facing heart surgery and reading this.  I can assure you that I completely understand how you feel.  It’s definitely not an easy experience physically or emotionally to go through.  However, there are some positive effects of having heart surgery than no talks about.

The Positive Effects of Having Heart Surgery No One Talks About

The positive effects of having heart surgery that no one talks about. Heart surgery can be scary, but the effects of having heart surgery can be positive.

You Will Feel Better

One of the most important effects of having heart surgery is you will feel better.  You will not feel better immediately.  That part takes quite a bit of time.  However, as you begin to heal and feel stronger you will notice a better quality of life.  After my own heart surgery, I experienced energy like I never thought possible.  I slept better at night.  I had more stamina.  While heart surgery was no easy experience, I am so grateful to feel better and enjoy life again.

Gratitude

One of the best effects of having heart surgery is that it will leave you feeling grateful.  When you think of all you have been through and overcome, it will fill you with a sense of gratitude.  You will be thankful for each new day.  Making the most out of life will become a top priority.  This will trickle into every part of your life.  You will appreciate your family and friends even more.  You will also realize what’s truly important and what you need to let go of.  This book helped me remain positive on my road to recovery.

Buying Time

Perhaps one of the best effects of having heart surgery is the fact that you’ve bought yourself some extra time.  When I think of how long I ignored my symptoms until I finally went to the doctor, it honestly scares me.  When I think of all the happy experiences I have had since surgery, it makes me so thankful I didn’t miss those special moments.  It’s been almost three years and having bypass surgery has bought me extra time in life.  I hope it’s a long time.

Heart surgery is serious.  It’s life-changing.   Yes, it’s also very scary if you don’t know what to expect.  Once you’ve cleared the hurdle of the surgery itself, you can eventually reflect back on the experience and realize it has changed you for the better.

[…] It’s no secret this past year has been tough.  I’ve even been through things that have made me take a long look at what I want the rest of my life to look like.  I don’t want to spend it just settling for things and trudging my way through.  I need […]
