Spring Break is finally here and we are spring cleaning on spring break in our home!  My husband took the week off as well, so we are all at home this week.  The kid has surprised me by not sleeping in like he normally does when there is no school.  We have all been up and productive and also enjoying a little downtime to rest.

On Saturday the hubby pulled down our dark, dreary curtains in the front living room to kick off our spring cleaning. It takes 2 sets of curtains to cover our front living room windows.  Here is before:

We put up the new curtains I ordered from Amazon that I talked about in this post.  Here is after:

I apologize for the lighting in these pictures.  Our front windows are huge and it’s hard to get a good light balance in here.  I hope I can get better pictures to share soon.  Anyway, we are LOVING the new curtains!  It lets even more natural light in and once we swap out some furniture pieces and add in some plants, I feel like our living room will really start coming together.  I also took this opportunity to dust and vacuum and clean the baseboards in this room.  I also took down those white sheers and washed them as well.  They sure needed it!

On Sunday, it was a beautiful day!  The sun was shining, a slight breeze was blowing, and it was 65 degrees.  A fabulous change from the cold, wet rain we’ve had for so many weeks.  I put on my rubber rain boots and went in the backyard and picked up limbs.  It was the first time I wore my rain boots ever and I loved them!  They were so comfortable.  I filled several bags and hauled some limbs in the wheel barrow to the road.  The garbage men picked it all up this morning.  One thing that made the job easier was this pik stick .

pic stick reacher

I call it my “reacher” because I use it around the house to help me reach things because I am so short.  It’s good for grabbing socks and other little things out of the washer that I have trouble reaching.  I figured it would help me in the yard, too, and I was right!  It kept me from having to bend so much.  I’m glad to have that task done!  It is supposed to rain the rest of this week (and has already started), so I wanted to get that out of the way.  Now the yard will be ready for mowing when the grass grows back in.

Today, I was extremely sore!  I haven’t done much except a few loads of laundry and cleaning up the kitchen.  However, while I was napping, my husband got into our backyard shed and cleaned out ALL the junk and hauled it off to the dump!  I was so excited when I woke up to see this!  There’s hardly anything left and that’s just the way I like it.  This shed is very old and I hope to have it eventually removed.  We don’t need it and it’s becoming rusty and an eyesore.

So, we have started our spring cleaning on spring break and we still have lots more to go.  I’m excited about the progress we are making!
