It’s been a busy weekend.  I’ve been shredding documents and organizing a cabinet upstairs.  Saturday started off slow.  I woke up very early (a bad habit I can’t break when I can actually sleep in) and so I had coffee and a little something to eat and looked at social media for a while.  I was finally sleepy again at about 7:30 AM, so I went back to bed.  I slept until about 9:30.  Jake and I enjoyed many cuddles.  This is Jake:

jake the cat

Jake is not my cat.  He actually belongs to our next-door neighbors.  They got him when he was a kitten and raised him indoors, but then decided they wanted him to be an outside cat.  Poor Jake was put outside last summer and he just ran up to our door one day.  I let him inside to visit with our cat Pearl at the time.  They ended up being pretty good pals until Pearl passed away in August.  Their friendship was short, but Jake loves our house.  I let him stay inside one stormy night and that did it.  He loves to be outside more than anything, but he always comes to the door at night ready to sleep inside until morning.  If it’s a nasty rainy day or extremely cold I let him stay inside while I’m at work.  But don’t let his sweet looks fool you.  If he is hungry he will nip at your ankles until he is fed.  He also despises being held and you can only pet his head, and for just about a half a minute.  But he loves to snuggle and gives affection on his terms.

I did the laundry Saturday and also managed to organize a cabinet in our bedroom.  I’d just been using it as a dumping ground, mainly for medicines and such.  But I pulled everything out and got rid of the expired items and moved some Christmas things to another place.  It looks much better now, but it will really look great when this finally gets painted.

Today I moved on to our filing cabinets.  Again, ever since my surgery I have just been tossing things in and letting papers just build up.  I couldn’t find something the other day and I got completely frustrated and vowed I would clean it all up.

I ended up shredding 4 garbage bags FULL of papers we no longer needed!  It took several hours and I still don’t have them organized as I want, but at least the non-important things are cleared out.  I hope to tackle the rest of it next week.

I finished the day by making a big pot of my taco soup that I love.

It’s quick and easy.  It was great and I know I will sleep very well tonight!
