Happy Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a good start. I have a few errands to run shortly, but first, I need to wade through some emails and try to get this blog post up. I really don’t have the bandwidth for the emails today. I skimmed them and dealt with the most urgent ones. Maybe tomorrow I can concentrate better.
Roof Updates
The roof is coming along very nicely. I was shocked to see the roofers show up on Saturday morning! They worked very hard all day long, and great progress was made on the sides that slope down! They were all replaced. It was exciting to see what was behind the original metal that came down. Lots and lots of insulation that is probably original to the house.
This is from the back of the house. They ended up having to take down the back and front balconies. They assure us they will be built back. The back balcony will have to be entirely replaced. The contractor was very concerned about the condition of the wood on that one. It just wasn’t very safe looking.
Saturday was by far the noisiest day ever! It sounded like our walls were being beaten down when they had to remove the old metal. So, it was loud and extremely messy all day. But they completed most of that part, and now we wait on balconies and trim work. They are here now working on the detached garage to the side of the house.
Lunch With a Friend
Last Thursday, a friend I don’t see very often texted me out of the blue and asked if we could meet for lunch that day. I was having a pretty good day, so I said sure! We ended up eating at a La Carte, a local bistro, and I had my favorite wrap and fruit combo. It was a long lunch, but her work was flexible, and it was so good to catch up with her.
When I got home, I decided it was a good day to strip our bed to wash the sheets. The only problem was, Jake didn’t want to let go of the spot he had claimed. I went to another room for something, and when I returned, he was buried down into the sheets I had just taken off the bed. I hated to disturb him, but I had work to do! Haha!
Senior Pic
We finally got our senior pic that the Teen took for the yearbook. Holding those in my hands just made it so “official.” He hates taking pictures, but I’m still trying to get him to reconsider taking more casual senior pictures. However, if this is all I can get, I’m satisfied. We’ve waited so long to see this! It blows my mind that I started this blog when he was two years old, and here we are now.
Halloween Buckets
FYI…McDonald’s now has their Happy Meal Halloween buckets available! Even though I am pushing 50, I still get super excited over these and have to have one every year! Haha!
I’m off to run errands!

You have a very handsome son, Mandy.
Dancer loves to help make the bed, too! 🙂
Mandy says
Aww, thank you! He is my heart! My one and only.

Fun picture! My senior is squinting in all of his pictures. It’s just the way he smiles. I put together his elementary “first day of school” pic, along with a senior picture this weekend for the school yearbook. All of the elementary schools buy a page, & those who attended create a collage. It’s pretty fun to see how they’ve all changed!

The Halloween bucket made me smile. I still have 3 from when Boychild1 was just a wee lad, so early ’90s. I still get them out each year as part of our Halloween decor. =)

Aren’t they fun? They make me so happy! Haha!

Jake is awfully cute in those sheets!
Nice pic of the Senior. My son was also not a fan of taking pics, he still gives me a hard time!!
Mandy says
Thank you, Mari! I dont know what it is about boys, but they sure are different! Haha!

What is it about boys and taking pictures? I used to get so aggravated at my son when he was in high school for his lack of cooperation. If he did allow a picture it was the no smile look. I told him he would be sorry one day. It is just that age! He did agree to the casual pictures but I remember being so aggravated that he didn’t shave:) Now, I realize it wasn’t worth the fight. It may be several more years before you get posed pictures.
The dog seems to have the same trouble moving off the bed as kitty here.

Sandy, it happened when he became a teenager. He used to be so cooperative when he was a young boy. I have the cutest pics of him smiling and happy. Now, it’s all seriousness. Boys are just so different. I couldn’t wait to take my senior pictures! Your post makes me feel better knowing it isn’t just my son! Haha!

Your son looks so distinguished in his senior picture. It is a very good picture for someone who dislikes having his picture taken.
Mandy says
Thank you so much! Out of the many that were taken with no smiles, this once seemed to be the best! Haha!

Kitties sure do LOVE helping make a bed!!!!! LOL
What a handsome young man. That is a great picture.
Having the roof replaced is not for someone with a headache!!! Oh my goodness, it gets noisy. Glad you will be all new and fixed soon.
Mandy says
Hey Cheryl! Yes, kitties do indeed make it more challenging to get housework done, especially when it comes to bedsheets! Haha! I used to have a cat that LOVED to attack the clean sheets when I would try to put them on the bed. I miss that little stinker! Thank you for the compliment on my son’s picture. Just hard to believe is almost ready to start his adult life. Time flies!
