When I was growing up, I felt super special when my mom packed a lunch for me.  Not that our school cafeteria didn’t serve great meals, but there was just something about my mom packing my lunch in my little Strawberry Shortcake lunchbox that made that part of the day so much better.  Naturally, when my own little guy started school I couldn’t wait to pack him lunches.  Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen that often because of his extreme pickiness in food and my sad lack of meal planning skills.

What’s For Lunch?

I really wanted to work on this lunch dilemma this summer, and then I received the opportunity to try MOMables, a school lunch planning service.  A service that plans meals and makes it super easy to pack delicious lunches my kid would actually eat?  Yes, please!

MOMables was started by Laura Fuentes, a mom of 3 kids under seven years old, to help other parents get out of the lunch packing rut. MOMables offers a weekly school lunch meal plan with 5 lunch ideas, a prep-ahead sheet and a shopping list to help us busy parents feed our kids good food they will actually eat for only $6 per month!  Their one simple plan approach has built in substitutions for vegetarian, gluten free and nut free options when needed (it is not a dairy free or vegan plan).

Is It Really That Easy?

YES! MOMables makes it so easy to plan and shop for exactly what you need to make great school lunches your kids will love.  Everything you need to make meal planning easy is all there.  I also loved the extensive recipe index on the site that lists a ton of great breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner ideas, with options for allergy-friendly foods.  There’s also great tips on how to keep lunches hot or cold, how to freeze and prepare foods, and so much more.   When I calculated the cost, I know we spend at least $80 a month purchasing lunches for our son at school.  MOMables is a great value for a very minimal price and I can see this service helping me save money when school starts back.

Laura has been kind enough to offer my readers a sample week of MOMables for FREE, when you sign up for their weekly newsletter. It’s also loaded with free recipes, tips and so much more each week.

Already convinced?  You can sign up with MOMables right now and start receiving your weekly lunch plans to get ahead of the game before school starts!
