Roasting

We are still ROASTING over here in Mississippi!  I swear, we’ve had one little shower of rain (on the other side of town) since the July 4th weekend.  It is extremely hot and dry.  I pray that we can get some rain this week.  This was Thursday’s real feel:

Needless to say, any errands must be run before noon, because getting out in this heat is just tough!  I have been drinking Liquid IV once daily to ensure I’m getting in some good electrolytes.  They make a sugar-free version, and I am so thankful for that because I feel so much better after drinking one.

Last week was really low-key—no plans and too hot to get out and do anything.  I took Young Man to the bank so he could take care of some business on Tuesday.  Hubby and Young Man went to the train museum here in town.  They enjoyed it.  I stayed home and napped that day, haha!  I wake up super early in the mornings, and some days I need a little extra rest.  Hubby also made an eggplant parmesan on Friday night.  It was good, but he made enough to feed a small army!

We saw a beautiful rainbow on Saturday evening.  I guess it was from the rain shower across town.  The purples in this rainbow were stunning!

Jake slept fabulously on the couch Saturday evening.  I was surprised he wanted to stay inside, but just like clockwork, he had me up at 5 AM Sunday, wanting to be let outside in the backyard.

But that’s when I usually wake up anyway.  It feels so much better at this time of the day.  I sit outside and hold Beetle, our stray black cat, and we watch the sun come up. I have some coffee, and that’s when I pray.  It’s a slow, pleasant start to the day that I look forward to.  It’s the best time of day to catch all of the different bird sounds on the Merlin app as well.

Looking ahead to this week, Young Man has a dentist appointment to get a filling this afternoon.  Tomorrow, a service technician will visit to connect us to fiber-optic internet.  We’ve always had our internet through the local cable company, but their prices have increased significantly. With fiber-optic, the wiring is underground, which helps reduce outages.  I hope it will be a better change for us.

On Friday, Hubby has to have a root canal.  I sure do hate it for him.  I will accompany him to his appointment and ensure he is taken care of afterward.  I’m not sure about my plans for the weekend ahead yet.  I would love to take a day trip somewhere, as I feel like I’m going stir-crazy at home.  But this heat puts a huge damper on any plans!  We will see.  I’m praying for some rain and a little cooler temps!

It’s been hot, here, too. We went up to 100F a few days ago with a “feels like 108F” according to the weather app. I usually do well with the heat, but, this year, for some reason, I am feeling it.
Love the picture of Jake sleeping!

Ugh! Just thinking of that heat/humidity makes me cringe. We will hit 90’s, even 100 a couple of times a year, but we have virtually no humidity which makes it a little more bearable.

What an amazingly hot summer we’ve had! It was 97 in Tennessee last week. Cooler this week, thank heavens.
I hope your husband is doing well with his root canal. I’ve never had one, but I’ve heard they can be rugged.

I occasionally drink the Liquid IV, I get the sugar free as well. I’m not crazy about it but it sure helps with hydration.

We’ve been super hot here in Michigan, too! Luckily we are cooling down some at the end of this week! I agree it’s hard to have ambition to do anything when it’s this hot!

    Hello dear Friend!
Prayers sent for cooler weather and rain. I hope you’re able to get out and have fun in these fleeting days of summer. I can’t believe how fast it’s gone and it’s almost August. In the north here that’s practically pre-Fall Lol
I hope your hubby’s root canal goes well. That’s never fun stuff.
Blessings on the rest of our week. xoxo

We’re with you, too, here in Maryland, with the temperatures in the 90°Fs to 100°F. While we have had a little rain since the 4th, where I live seems to be in some kind of rain shadow, as much of the rain seems to skirt around us. Some rain would feel really good now in this heat.
Love the picture of Jake. I miss having cats.

Hazy, hot and humid here, too, although we have had a lot of rain -wicked storms – peppered in there. It’s great for hanging out in the pool, but it does make those ordinary errands harder for sure. You’re right, early morning is the best…stay cool!!

We have had those 90’s as well – with the humidity. Too hot! Glad you are taking advantage of the morning – they are so serene. Hope all goes well for everyone this week.
