Well, Happy New Year! I didn’t plan to take two weeks off from blogging, but the holidays got so hectic, and the hubby was off for almost two weeks, so we spent a lot of downtime just enjoying being together as a family and taking care of some little home projects. The time just got away from me, but I’m glad to be back here in my little space online. I have been reading and following along with the blogs in my feed reader, so I don’t feel too behind as far as what’s going on with everyone else. So, I guess I’ll dive right into what’s been happening here, But first…
You know I had to post a picture of my New Year’s Beanie Babies bears! I had to swipe this from last year’s post because I’m too lazy to get up and take a new picture, haha!
Christmas Recap
We had a wonderful Christmas with both sides of my family this year. So much so that I didn’t take but one whole picture! Oops! I was just running my mouth too much and enjoying my time with everyone. Something just told me to really take in and just enjoy my extended family and not worry too much about pictures, so that’s exactly what happened naturally. I did get one pic of me and one of my cousins.
She and I always take a picture and send it to our other two cousins to tell them we miss them. There were four of us girls on my mama’s side who grew up together, so we almost feel like sisters. Three of us are only children, so these are the closest things to sisters we have.
We’ve enjoyed lots of good food and good fellowship, but Christmas Day was a huge struggle. When I tell you I almost didn’t make it down the stairs that morning, I am not exaggerating. I’ve had some awful hip and foot pain on my left side, and I guess I just overdid it the day before. Christmas morning was spent here at home, opening presents and having a good breakfast together. I then spent the rest of the day and the evening in bed. It took me a couple more days to feel better, so that was the only low point of the holidays.
New Year’s
Our New Year’s consisted of an exciting evening at home. The Teen didn’t make it to midnight and turned in by 10 PM, but hubby and I stayed up and watched the ball drop on TV. I guess that has become our tradition. There was a time when we used to go out and enjoy the New Year’s celebrations, but gosh, that was over 25 years ago! Haha! I told him that this year, we need to make plans to go out and eat a nice meal and then be home early. So, I’m marking it down in my new planner to make some reservations early. Our small town doesn’t have a whole lot of nice restaurants, so I’m sure reservations for NYE fill up quickly.
Like many people, we have also been cleaning up and cleaning out. Having hubby home for an extended time has been great because we have tackled some things on the to-do list that I can’t do myself. We’ve cleaned out the extra bedroom/office area and have a nice pile for donation. He has changed light bulbs outside and inside, helped my mama with some of her little projects, and just been the hands and feet when my hands and feet don’t work. Haha! He has also been cooking for us almost every night he was home. He loves to cook, and of course, because he is on the road so much, he doesn’t get to do that very often, so you can bet I let him when he wants to! He has really spoiled the Teen and me, and I am sad that it has come to an end.
Appointments and Such
We’ve also been taking my mama to dermatologist appointments out of town. She is having two cancerous places removed from her face and scalp, so we have had to see three different doctors about this. She is scheduled to have this done in a couple of weeks, so we pray everything goes well, and she can put this behind her.
I’m also scheduled to see a rheumatologist shortly after she has her procedure. I’m hopeful this appointment will give me some answers about the pain I am having and hopefully get me on a plan to feel better.
That’s all I’ve got for today! I have more thoughts about the new year, but this post is long enough, so I’ll save these thoughts for another! Hope your holidays were wonderful and that this new year brings you lots of peace, joy, and all the things you hope for!

Happy New Year! I hope your appointment with the rheumatologist goes well and there’s a plan moving forward. It’s no fun being in pain.

Sometimes pictures get in the way if just having fun is what I am thinking more and more.of course, they are fun to look back at too. We ate early out for NYE, but trust me I was way asleep before the ball dropped. I just count myself celebrating with another time zone these days.

I like that…celebrating with another time zone! Perfect! We may be doing that ourselves this next time. Haha! My eyes start getting heavy a lot sooner nowadays.

Happy New Year, Mandy. I’m glad you had a lovely holiday season with your family and loved ones. Sorry to hear about the aches and pains, but, hopefully, the visit to the doctor will help with that. Hope your mama’s surgeries go well and everything gets taken care of. Looking forward to reading your New Year’s thoughts. 🙂

Thank you so much! We are praying she does well and will be on the mend soon!

I was also missing from blogland for 2 weeks and am glad to get back into a routine at home and here! Glad you had a nice time with family and having your hubby home! It’s good to be spoiled.
I have rheumatoid arthritis and the meds I’m on have been very helpful. Winter is always harder with the cold, but before I got on meds I could hardly walk. So I hope you get some answers and help too!
Mandy says
Gosh, Mari, I hate to hear you struggle with RA so much. I’m glad the medicines work so well for you. I’m praying that’s all this is and I can start on something soon to get some relief. It’s been a struggle lately. I was glad to see y’all made it back safely and you are back blogging!
