Piddling Around and Taking Care of Business

Spread the love

I’ve spent the last few days just piddling around the house. Of course, there is always some laundry to do, as well as other household chores.  The only problem is that I haven’t exactly wanted to do chores this week.  The weather is so pretty that I’d much rather sit outside on the patio!

cat sleeping in the recliner

Jake has been super content to commandeer the recliner for the past week. He usually sleeps all day on the extra bedroom floor or on my bed, but he has wanted to be downstairs near me lately. Vacuuming is very inconvenient because I don’t want to freak him out, so I have to wait until he goes outside, which is almost 8 p.m.!  He is absolutely rotten!

Clothing Decisions

I visited my mom a couple of mornings this week to try on some dresses I ordered for The Teen’s graduation functions and get her opinion.  It’s so funny that I’m almost 50 and still need my mom’s opinion on clothing.  Haha!  But she gave it to me straight, and I needed that.  We are currently at an impasse about one dress.  I love it, but she thinks an empire waist makes me look too big in the front.  But she loves a green dress on me in the exact same style!!  Haha!  I have ordered several dresses, and none seem to be “doing it” for me, except for the one my mom is not crazy about, of course!

Outfitting the Teen

The Teen’s dress shoes came in. He has to have a wider size, and the first pair I ordered were too narrow for his foot. I’m glad we had time to order another one! I’ve still got to get him a new tie. I’ve got to sit down and make a good list to get laser-focused for next week. It’s crunch time, and graduation is upon us!

Stocking Up

I put in a Sam’s Club order, which should arrive soon. I love Sam’s toilet paper and paper towels, and you can order them in bulk, so they usually last a while. I also get their bulk trash bags, ibuprofen, and Splenda packets. There are two shipments, so I expect one tomorrow and the rest Friday.  The only not fun part about ordering from Sam’s is breaking down the big boxes.  Haha!  But you can’t beat free shipping.  The nearest Sam’s to us is two hours away.

Coming Up!

Friday morning will be busy as we have two senior-year activities going on. I’ll be sure to share more about them the next time I post! But I’m so excited for the Teen! His last official day of classes is Friday, and he has a couple of exams to take next week, but he only has to show up for them and can leave when he is finished.

You are in full fledged graduation season! Sam has more finals next week, then the following week kicks off AP testing. He’s officially done at the end of May, but graduation is the first week of June. He’s pretty jazzed.

I’ve also been so enjoying sitting by the pool & reading, thanks to the gorgeous weather. It’s hard to be motivated to get up & do anything!

Jake looks like he rules the roost around there. I don’t think I would dare disturb him.

I didn’t get to comment on the last post before you posted again. I have no doubt food could have caused the reaction. You may never know what though. I have tons of food allergies, so I have all kinds of things that happen to me. My daughter had an allergic reaction about a year ago. We were all together and she broke out in a rash and of course, we panicked. The only thing that she had that she didn’t eat all the time was a drink of ginger ale. It was a little more than a normal ginger ale and we deemed it was the red dye no. 40 in it. Crazy. She took a dose of Benadryl before we left for ER and it calmed the redness down, so we dodged the ER visit that night.
Oh the dread of finding a dress to wear. I feel your pain. I don’t know what it is about dresses. I went through that when my daughter got married. I tried on so many. I ended up wearing the first one I tried on…:)
Enjoy this time..as you know it passes all too quickly.

I think Jake has the right idea! I haven’t felt much like doing housework, myself. I hope you find a dress you both like! 🙂

Such a busy, fun time! Glad you are taking time to enjoy our pretty spring weather and hope you find a dress soon! I can relate to it being hard to find the right style.

Wow! Your son’s school gets out early. Have fun with all of his activities, and good luck with finding dresses to wear. I never find shopping for clothes easy.

Sounds like all the festivities are beginning to heat up, so exciting! I miss shopping with my mom, we used to laugh so hard in the fitting room. She always gave it to me straight too! I hope you find a dress you’re both happy with…hahaha!
