How To Work Off A Pancake Breakfast

A couple of weekends ago, E.B. surprised us by suddenly wanting to enter the Kids Fun Run at our local OctoberFest. He’s always been a pretty good runner, and I have begged him in the past to enter these fun runs, but he always turned me down. All it took was seeing the other children lining up to get started. Thankfully, it wasn’t too late to register and the run was totally free, so he went for it!

We *think* he came in second, but it was really just exactly what it said…a FUN run, so everyone got a participation medal. He was so proud.

And I missed it.

My husband had actually taken E.B. downtown to the festival really early that morning to go to the pancake breakfast and then they would be coming back home to pick me up to go back to the festival a little later in the morning. I had NO idea he would even want to do this and I feel terrible for missing it.

But I’m still so glad he went for it. I love his spontaneity!

Trick-Or-Treat! Halloween Books For Kids

Halloween is quickly approaching, and if you are looking for some great Halloween books for kids, HarperCollins has a great selection sure to please your little ghosts and goblins. Here are a few we received in the mail to check out:

LULU GOES TO WITCH SCHOOL

Little Lulu is off to witch school and loves everything about it…except for a girl named Sandy Witch who seems to do everything better than Lulu. Can Lulu and Sandy learn to get along? This is a great book for kids who have encountered this sort of situation with someone in their class. This is a Level 2 reader and perfect for kids who can read on their own but still need a little help.

TRICK OR TREAT MARLEY

If you loved Marley and Me by John Grogan, you will enjoy sharing this one with your kids. Marley the dog is up to his naughty antics as his family prepares for their Halloween party. Will he spoil all of the fun? This is a great picture book with beautiful illustrations.

SPLAT THE CAT-WHAT WAS THAT?

When Seymour gets lost in a haunted house, it’s up to Splat and Spike to come to his rescue. This is a fabulous flap book that kids will love opening up to discover extra pictures. A must-have for all Splat the Cat fans!

PINKALICIOUS-PINK-OR-TREAT

When a big storm shuts down all of the power in Pinkville, Pinkalicious must turn into Pinkagirl to save Halloween. Pinkalicious fans will love this book which comes with some great Pinkalicious stickers.

HALLOWEEN NIGHT

It’s Halloween night, and all of the zombies, ghost, banshees, and more are preparing for a frightful night of scaring! This books has beautiful pictures and was definitely the favorite out of the bunch in our home.

MONSTERS ON THE LOOSE

My son loves seek and find books, and of course, this book was very well received! Kids will have to use their look and find skills and the process of elimination to find the thief who has stolen all of the candy in Hallow Hills. Kids will enjoy looking at this one over and over, especially those who love a good challenge.
