Displaced

Posted on February 26, 2009 by Mandy

We are finally, FINALLY getting our bathroom walls re-done and because of the strong smells (holy cow, have you ever smelled Kilz??) and the fact that our bathroom is covered in dropcloths and sheetrock powder, E.B. and I have been staying at my parent’s house for a few nights.

The older I get the more I hate being away from my own home. I covet my own bed, being Lord and Master of the thermostat, and staying up until odd hours if I so please. Like now? It’s a little past midnight and I am having to type as quiet as possible so as not to disturb anyone and that’s pretty hard to do considering I am a “tap the keys as hard as possible” typist. And? I have to wait my turn to use the computer here. *shudder*

We will be back in our home tomorrow and although our host and hostess have been more than gracious and accommodating, there’s just no place like home. (*THIS from a girl who cried from homesickness after she was married and living in a new place for the first time. I’ve obviously come a LONG way.)

"Him" Has A Home

Posted on February 24, 2009 by Mandy

Apparently over the weekend we acquired a new pet. As I was cleaning the kitchen Friday night E.B. came running in telling me to, “come see Him!!!”. I was all ready to start blaming Clyde the cat for doing something….he was the only “Him” in the house at the time besides E.B. But no, “Him” is a ladybug that found its way inside our warm home and being the cool mom I am, I decided we could keep “Him”.

“Him” has been carefully toted around on E.B,’s finger, riding the Thomas trains (I kid you not…does that qualify as animal cruelty?), and has even come nose to nose with the cats. “Him” survived it all and is happily perched on the ceiling fan blade as I type this. I don’t know how long “Him” plans on sticking around, but due to the fact that I don’t have to feed, water, or clean up after it, he is welcome in our home anytime. “Him’s” pretty cute, too.

This Gift Was A Hit

Cracked Daddy said, “What the ???”

My own dad just rolled his eyes and shook his head.

BUT. E.B. loves to go shopping with me and he loves pushing the “wagon” (also known as a shopping cart…I have no idea WHY this child calls it a wagon) around the store. This is probably due to the fact that we have to read this book every night before bed(which was recommended to me by Maggie, Dammit).

In any case, this little shopping cart has had many miles put on it around our house since Sunday afternoon and poor Corduroy is drunk from all of the bumpy rides.

Valentines Love and PacMan Fever

E.B. made us a precious Valentine at school:

Hubby did good.

We also celebrated E.B.’s birthday this weekend since his birthday was on a weekday.

Because Even Blogs Need A Facelift Every Now And Then

Posted on February 13, 2009 by Mandy

My blog will be going under a little reconstruction work this weekend. I’m having the site redesigned by a fantastic blog designer and she will be doing some tweaking around here and then I’ll be adding in new content. So, if it starts looking different, that’s why.

And yes, the egg is staying.

King For A Day

Posted on February 10, 2009 by Mandy

When it is your 4th birthday and you have the coolest preschool teacher ever, she lets you make a little orange crown to wear around the classroom on that special day. Then you come home telling everyone who admires it, “Thank you….thankyouverymuch!”. And then your mom hugs you all to pieces and kisses your cheeks until they are red and says some stuff about not being in such a rush with this growing up stuff and would I please stop it already.
