Dollar General/ P & G Everyday Heroes Prize Pack Giveaway

Posted on June 13, 2012January 10, 2016 by Mandy

Dollar General giveaway

When you stop and think of every sacrifice that our military veterans make to our country, you would never be able to repay them or say thank you enough.  My husband was in the Army when we first married and as newlyweds we faced a 14 month separation due to his deployment.  It was difficult, but we made it through.  That’s just one of the many sacrifices we faced together as a military family.

Throughout the month of June, in recognition of the men and women of the U.S. military and their families, Dollar General® is teaming up with Procter & Gamble® to honor those true Every Day Heroes who have made sacrifices for their families, their communities and their country.

Dollar General truly values these heroes and their experiences and offers many career opportunities for returning veterans.  Dollar General is the winner of the 2011 Military Officers Association of America Distinguished Service Award and was recognized in GI Jobs magazine’s list of Most Military Friendly Employers.

Now, you can honor the military heroes in your life and your community: Dollar General is offering the opportunity to upload a video about your military hero to www.dollargeneral.com/everydayheroes.

Dollar General has teamed with Procter & Gamble to offer one of my readers an Everyday Heroes Prize pack, which includes:

  • Swiffer® 360° Duster
  • a set of Pringles®
  • red computer speakers
  • Old Spice® Champion Deodorant
  • Tide® sample packs
  • Dollar General reusable shopping bag

TO ENTER:  Complete the Rafflecopter entry form below.  Each entry you complete is a chance to win.  Giveaway ends Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at  12:01 AM EST.

I’m A Maytag Ambassador! #MaytagMoms

Posted on June 12, 2012January 10, 2016 by Mandy

maytag

Just the other night I put on a load of clothes to wash before we went to bed.  As we were drifting to sleep, all of a sudden it sounded like our washing machine was about to lift off!  The washing machine had jumped off track and thankfully my husband knew just what to do to remedy the situation.  We’ve had this washing machine since we were married (13 years) and it was bought used, so who knows exactly how old it really is.  All I could think at that moment was that someday (and hopefully it wouldn’t be soon), our washing machine would need to be replaced and that would be quite an expense.

A few weeks ago I applied through Mom Central to be a Maytag Ambassador.  I figured this would be a long shot as I’m sure many, many other bloggers also applied, so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.

The best came in the form of a congratulatory email yesterday letting me know that I had been chosen to be a Maytag Ambassador.  I am still pinching myself!  It’s taken a day for this to sink in and realize that we will soon be saying goodbye and good riddance to our old washer and dryer set and hello to the Maytag Bravos XL high-efficiency top-load washer and dryer.maytag bravos

There are so many reasons why I am excited about this opportunity, not the least of which is that this set has so many great features, including a sensing system on the dryer to help evenly dry clothes and reduce the risk of shrinking and an allergen removal cycle on the washing machine.

I hope you will follow along with me and 24 other #Maytag Moms ambassadors over the next four months as we test these appliances out and see how it changes the way we do laundry.   I’m already excited to get started on my first load!  I never thought I would have a reason to be excited about doing laundry!

I wrote this post as a #MayTagMoms Dependable Laundry Ambassador through mom Central Consulting on behalf of Maytag. I was provided with the Maytag washer and dryer set to facilitate my post.

How To Organize Legos

Posted on June 11, 2012January 10, 2016 by Mandy

My son’s Lego collection had turned into a mess of epic proportions.  We have tried containing them to smaller storage bins to help organize them, but somehow they all seem to turn into a jumbled mess, mixed in with Happy Meal toys and everything else.  I’ll be the first to admit he has WAY TOO MANY Legos, but this is what he prefers to play with now and the kid has some serious building skills, so in the name of creativity I let it slide.  However, I am a neat freak and I love to organize and finally decided SOMETHING had to be done.

First, I had to pick the Legos out of every other toy storage bin in our home and separate them from the other toys.  They were stuck everywhere….in the toy box, in a huge rolling storage cubicle….EVERYWHERE.

And now, here they all are in their new home:

It’s certainly not the most organized in terms of by color/size/shape, etc.  No way was I going to punish myself after the marathon cleanout.  Plus, he would just have them mixed up again in no time flat.  However, they are now all in one central place and are easy to access and so far, crossfingersandpray, they have stayed that way.  It’s much easier for him to sift through them and find what he needs and I like the fact that they are, finally, all in one place.

And THAT only took 4 hours of my life.  That’ I’ll never get back.

30 Day Shred- Day 7- The Excuses Edition

Posted on June 9, 2012January 10, 2016 by Mandy

I really felt like I phoned in all of the cardio on Day 7 of the 30 Day Shred workout.  I did great with everything else, but the cardio killed me.  I just keep thinking  by now I should be breezing through this much easier, but I’m not.  I have 3 possible reasons for this less-than-stellar workout:

1.  This sunburn/rash thing I have going on.

2.  I need to be doing this every day and NOT skipping days.

3.  I’m just a wimp.

For the sake of staying motivated, I’m blaming 1 & 2.  I really fell off the wagon of eating well this week, too.  We’ve had some family functions (funeral, family reunion) going on that have involved copious amounts of “comfort food”, which is a no-no.  Those 2 pounds I had lost are right back.

I realize this update is nothing but a litany of excuses.  It is what it is.  However, I know I am stronger than when I started.  Over a week ago, doing a push-up was a struggle, and now it’s my favorite part of the workout (even if it is a modified version).  I’ve made strides, but it’s time to quit messing around.

BUT!….BUT!!!!  Since being home I’ve been wearing my “comfy clothes” (t-shirts and knit shorts) almost constantly and I had to get dressed up the other night to go somewhere.  My clothes TOTALLY fit better.  So there’s that!  I kept wondering when I got home why I felt so comfortable in my clothes that night and then it dawned on me!  Duh!

So, hopefully come Monday I will be back to my regularly scheduled workouts.
