The great thing about having a seven year old son is that he is old enough to enjoy dining and shopping now. Woot! We’ve had a great time this past week going out to eat and checking out some shops downtown that we don’t get to stop in very often.
On Thursday evening we went out to our favorite Mexican restaurant. My son loves going there and only because of the chips and cheese dip. After that, he then orders a little personal size pizza. He’s not much of a fan of Mexican food.
See? We can totally tear up a bowl of cheese dip and chips.
On Saturday we went out to eat with my mom, my grandmother, my cousin, and my aunt at The Warehouse. Not only is it a fabulous restaurant, but it also has an art gallery and gift shop downstairs. That’s where I picked up this:
It’s the Edgar Allen Poe scent from the Library Collection by Paddywax Candles. It smelled so divine that I bought two of these travel size tins.
After lunch, E.B. and I moved on to the bookstore downtown.
I love our little bookstore. It’s small and quiet and has a section just for Mississippi/Southern authors. That’s where I spend a majority of my money. Or used to before E.B. came along. He somehow managed to twist my arm into buying him a new Lego book. Not just a little easy reader Lego book, but a big coffee table book. He claimed he needed it for “ideas on how to build stuff”. I wasn’t so sure, but I caved in anyway. When we got home, he immediately opened the book and sat there for 2 hours building things he saw. I think that was a great investment.
I love that my sweet little guy enjoys doing these things together and plan to savor it as long as I can. Because someday? Hanging out with Mom won’t be so cool anymore.
