Love at First Bite

Spread the love

I fell in love at first bite with a salad yesterday. Yep, a salad. We had to travel again for another doctor’s appointment for Mama, and this time, it was at a new office location. We discovered a whole different side of this big metropolitan town than I never knew existed. It was super nice.  Brick roads, amazing shopping area.  Beautiful homes and neighborhoods.  After her appointment, we were trying to decide on what to get for lunch, so I pulled up some places around us, and that’s when I saw it!  Panera!

Love at First Bite

I have never had Panera before, but I always see the commercials for it.  Living in a small town, we don’t have those restaurants here, so I try to eat somewhere different when the opportunity arises.  We pulled in and went inside.  It was hot as blazes out!  I decided a salad would be a good idea.  So, since it had fruit, I ordered the Strawberry Poppyseed Chicken Salad, and OH MY WORD!  It was the best salad!  Strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple, and this amazing poppyseed dressing.

That said, if you ever find yourself near a Panera, you would not be sorry if you ordered this. I’m just sorry it’s two hours away from me, but I promise you this: I will be back!

Home Refresh

I really, really want to change out our bedding in the master bedroom.  Actually, I just want a whole room makeover.  Haha!  When we bought the house, I had grand plans for every room, but we only got as far as painting the downstairs.  Our bedroom is a peculiar gray that looks almost a very light blue when the right lighting hits it.  I’ve been stalking bedding and found this beautiful chenille set at Walmart.

chenille bedding

I love, love, love chenille because it reminds me of the bedding at my grandma’s house when I was growing up. I like a simple white because you can work with it, adding accent pieces and beautiful curtains.  I’m just in the thinking stages.  I’m not so sure painting in this hot summer weather is a great idea right now.  We will see!

Snack Shack

Chanel

Our house is the neighborhood pet snack stop! Haha! This is Chanel. She is our neighbor’s dog—the same neighbor that Jake came from. She goes outside for an afternoon romp, and she knows if she stops by our porch, she has a fresh bowl of water waiting every day, and she will get a Milkbone dog biscuit! She loves Hubby. He sits outside with her, pets her, and talks to her.  I’m not sure you can tell from this picture, but Chanel only has three legs.  She lost one of her legs when she was hit by a car over a year ago.  However, that does not slow her down one bit!  We love to see her, and she is so sweet!  Jake, of course, feels differently.  Haha!

Hello Weekend

Well, it’s Friday, and I don’t have any big weekend plans.  I would love to go to our farmer’s market on Saturday morning, but I’ll have to see how it feels outside.  We got a great downpour on Wednesday, which cooled things off a bit on Thursday.  I was so thankful because this heat is killing all of the grass and flowers, and besides that, it just feels miserable!  We’ve had real feel days this week of 114 degrees!

Whatever you do, I hope you have a great one!

That salad looks delicious . I’ve been to Panera, but, I go for their bread more than anything else! However, I haven’t been there since before the pandemic. I’m still not going out to eat, just getting take out, only.

I didn’t even try the bread. I’ll definitely have to next time. I don’t blame you for taking measures to keep yourself safe. I should probably be more careful myself. But, it wasn’t crowded that day, so I guess that was a good thing.

Love that you have a bonus dog – what a cutie! I like the soups at Panera, and really also like the tuna sandwiches. I know I can make my own, but it’s just never the same, so sometimes I splurge 😉

It’s almost 100 here today, which is really hot for us.

I shudder at the thought of bedroom makeovers. Barb just did this last winter, but is it ever really done. I cannot tell you how many comforters and pictures she bought and returned before settling on the current set up
    Chanel is such a cutie!

Count me in as another who likes that salad. That is my usual order. 114 is too hot for anything! We are hot here, but cooler than that. I hope that your break in the temperatures continues and drops even more.
I would like a new quilt for our bed, as the old one is wearing out. But I haven’t taken the time to shop for something yet.

I go to Panera quite a bit to meet someone for coffee, but if I go for a meal, this salad is my go-to as well! Glad you enjoyed a new place and I like that bedding. Have a great weekend!
