Library bulletin board decorations ideas and door decoration ideas are something I’m always looking for as a school librarian.  Kids love coming into a school library that has a fun-looking door decorated around a learning or seasonal theme.  Ditto for library bulletin boards.  The only problem is I was not blessed with a creative bone in my body when it comes to doing this.  No matter what school I work at, I always have to get a little help bringing my ideas to fruition.

I was scrolling through the pictures on my phone and thought I’d post a few of my library bulletin board decorations and door decorations I’ve had through the past few years.

Fall Library Bulletin Boards

I had a little help from the art teacher with the scarecrow for this fall library bulletin board.  An assistant did the pumpkin.  And me?  I just stapled it all up there.  Ha!  I did punch out the leaves with the die cut machine and did the tree.  I’ve often considered getting a cutting machine for my own personal use, like this Silhouette model, but I’ve been fortunate to work in schools with a great selection of die cuts.

And this is the door of the school I currently work in.  I recycled the pumpkins from the bulletin board above and had a great door in no time!  Funny side note- This door stayed up until March of the next year when I was off work from having heart surgery.  Yikes!  haha!

My art teacher friend to the rescue again!  She made these adorable penguins and used scrapbook paper for their scarves!  So I made a snow back ground, punched out some snowflakes and added in some book covers.  If you know me at all, you know that penguins are my very favorite animal!  I hated to have to take this one down, but I was good and returned the penguins back to her!

Spring Door Decoration

This is a door I did last spring at my current school.  It was super easy to do and I didn’t have to bug anyone for help on this one!

Arnie the Donut

Last year my students and I were watching a Scholastic Video and Arnie the Donut was on it.  We all fell in love with Arnie, so last year when school started I had Arnie greeting them at the library door!  They were so excited!  I had a place downtown make Arnie for me out of cardboard and when I took the door decor down, I hung Arnie on the wall in the library.

Outer Space Theme Door

Our theme this year was outer space, so I had the same shop who did Arnie for me to do a rocket ship and a little alien.  I didn’t exactly get the words spaced perfectly like I should have, but it’s still cute and I can use the rocket ship and alien again someday.

It’s actually time for me to change the door above out and put up something fall themed.  I’ve found that doing my library bulletin board decorations in a seasonal theme is a huge help to me because I can use them for several months.
