Last Birthday in My 40s

I celebrated my last birthday in my 40s this past Sunday.  When I woke up and came downstairs to make myself a cup of coffee, this was what greeted me on the dining room table.

It’s almost as if he is saying HE is the gift!  Ha!  My husband has an adorable habit of making sure I wake up to gifts and flowers on special days like my birthday, our anniversary, or Valentine’s Day.  I love him all the more for it.  He got me exactly what I asked for:

Yep, I wanted a Flexi-Hose!  Haha!  Our regular water hose was getting too cumbersome for me to handle when watering my plants outside.  We have one of those boxes that contain the hose when not in use, and cranking the handle on that to roll it back up is also rough going.  I usually water my plants very close to dark, and that’s also about when my heart medication starts wearing off, and it’s time for another dose.  I must eat something to take my medicine, so watering time usually finds me huffing and puffing my way to get through.  This lighter hose will make easier work, and we plan to install a regular hose hanger once the new roof is finished.

Health Update

Hubby and I had our endocrinologist appointment on Monday.  Nothing has changed for me except gaining a couple of pounds.  We will try yet another new medication to see if it will help control my Type II diabetes.  My A1C was sitting at 8.3 at this visit.  So, about the same as before.  We will return to see her in November for our three-month visits.  Hubby got a good report.  Afterward, we went to eat at Berry’s, which is always excellent.  The only thing that wasn’t great was the two-hour car ride each way to go to this appointment.  I am so sore for days after riding in the car that long.  We do stop for a break, going and coming back, but it still takes a lot out of me.

The AirPods Update

Ya’ll, I can’t believe it, but the rice trick saved my son’s AirPods that I accidentally washed in the laundry!  I left them in the bag of rice for 24 hours, and we were so relieved to see that it helped!  I pray this never happens again, but I know exactly what to do if it does!

Southern Heatwave

This heat has been soooooo awful.  It is absolutely ROASTING HOT outside!  It just seems never-ending.  Hubby and I passed many a burned crop on our way to our endocrinologist appointment.  I pray every day for those who have to work outdoors.  It’s just unbelievable!  The heat index has averaged 112 degrees for a couple of weeks now.  If I get one more Excessive Heat alert from my weather app I think I will scream!  I don’t even see any relief in sight in the upcoming forecast.  Needless to say, I stay indoors as much as possible.

The Teen and I have eye appointments this morning, and then we will be headed home and out of this heat!  I am glad our appointment time is early in the morning so we can get that out of the way before it becomes sweltering.  Hope you all have a great weekend!
