Due to recent medical test results that a certain person in our home who shall remain nameless received, we all have to change our terrible eating habits in our home. Said certain nameless person has already changed theirs and is feeling much better, so that leaves me. Have I ever told you guys how much I don’t cooperate with change? How I hate exercise? No? Well, consider yourselves warned because this is going to be my summer “hobby”, I guess.

*sigh* **stomps feet**

In all seriousness, I know we need to do this. The way we eat and hardly exercise is totally unhealthy. It’s just that it’s so difficult for me to stick with anything when I don’t see immediate results. I also have no willpower. This is a dangerous combination when trying to change anything in life for the better. However, I have no excuses now, seeing that I am off work all summer and have time to prepare healthy meals and exercise regularly.

This week I will be experimenting with eating healthier, trying new foods, and (gasp!) exercising. I’ve decided to give Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred a whirl. I’m probably biting off way more than I can chew for a beginner, but we will see how this week goes, weed out what works and what doesn’t, and then get really, really serious next week.

I’m also looking for any great websites and apps that can help with this journey to health. If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them in the comment section.

Wish me luck! I will keep you all posted.

I like 30 Day Shred and I’m a complete beginner! When I do it consistently I see results in 5 or 6 sessions…I think that’s about as immediate as you can get!

I lost 50 lbs doing Weight Watchers about 3 years ago. I just did it online…no meetings…meetings about weight aren’t my thing 😉

I’ve gained some of my weight back so I have a healthy eating/exercise hobby this summer too;) I also loved walking 20 to 30 mins on my off days with Jillian. But this summer, for the first time EVER I am taking classes at a local gym. They let you pay by the class instead of purchase a membership. I asked around and attend the classes that are designed for beginners. They have been so nice and helpful! I totally work out harder when I’m in the classes than I would if I were on my own.

Jenni….wow! That is an amazing amount of weight lost! I need to check out Weight Watchers. You are the second person who has suggested this to me, so it must really work! I sure hope you enjoy your classes at the gym this summer. They sound perfect for someone like me! Keep me posted on your progress this summer!
