I am SO happy to report that the ice is now GONE!  It really warmed up Monday night, and by morning, the ice was no more.  It is raining now, but I’ll take rain over a week of ice any day!  The garbage truck finally ran, and we also received mail without any after a whole week!  It’s the little things!  Haha!

Back To Our Normal Schedule

The Teen is back in his routine now, and I finally got out and saw my mom yesterday morning.  I tried to drive by her house Monday after dropping the Teen off at school, but her street was still a solid sheet of ice.  Some neighborhoods took much longer than others to clear off.  Anyway, it was great to see her, and then Hubby and I ran uptown so I could swap our wireless modem for a new one with our cable company.  The modem was eight years old, and they emailed and said if we would bring it in, they would provide a newer and faster one for free!  I did have to call tech support when setting it up.  It was easy to plug in, but it didn’t want to connect.  The tech support person was a huge help, and now we are up and going again!

Cozy Home Stuff

Hubby made it in Monday night from a short day run to Memphis.  I had his chocolate cake and hamburger potato casserole waiting!  I forgot to take a picture of the cake until after I had cut it.  Oops!  Haha!

This last week, all during the ice event, I have been burning this Campfire Treat candle from Yankee Candle.

yankee candle campfire treat

It smells so good!  Like marshmallows with the slightest hint of campfire smoke.  I have bought so many candles over the years, but Yankee Candles have been a favorite of mine for over 25 years now.  They have the strongest scent.  I have one for spring, but I need to do another big cleanout of my candles and wax melts.  I think I mentioned before that I have decided I need to start buying smaller jars because I love so many different scents.  A smaller jar burns just enough for a season, and then I’m done.  I bought this one a year or two ago, so it was time to use it some more.

Update on Mama

So, instead of just one procedure next week, we will make two trips to do things for my mom.  She has two minor tests on Monday morning and then her heart catheterization on Thursday.  She is having a hard time deciding if she can actually go through with this procedure.  She NEEDS this, but naturally, any sort of surgery dealing with your heart is super scary.  Please keep her in your prayers if you pray.

Cleaning Out

I hope I can convince hubby to clean out his closet and chest of drawers today.  He has WAY more clothes than I do, and all his drawers are just crammed full.  I also have a little project I want to do in my closet.  I’ll report back on that!  I don’t have many clothes, but I need to decide whether to keep some or donate some.  I always think I’ll eventually need something that I give away and be mad that I let it go.  Do you ever wrestle with that?  Anyway, I’ll try to document that if we do it.

Hope you guys have a great rest of your day!

Hi Mandy, we got a lot of ice last week, but since then, it’s warmed up above freezing with a bunch of rain; our ditches are flooded and overflowing way into the yard. It’s normal, though.

I’ll keep your Mom in my players.

Your hamburger potato casserole looks fantastic and seems super easy to make. I’m going to have to try that soon. We already have all of the ingredients.

Hope everything goes well for your mom! I have a goal of decluttering 500 items this year, and it’s working pretty well for now. I’m guessing it will get harder as the year goes on!

Glad the ice has melted & you can be out & about again.

Prayers for your mom that the procedures work out perfectly and she feels much better. My brother has had that done. I am sure she is scared – we all would be.
Glad your ice is gone. Raining here as well.
    Take care.

Hello! I’m praying for your momma. I’m glad the ice is melting. Snow is one thing, but ice? Ice is dangerous. I also love Yankee Candles. They are definitely the best. Could I please have a piece of that cake? It looks delicious! Stay safe, my friend.

Yay for the snow melting! By Tuesday, it was melted here and now everyone is out and about. Crazy to think we are 40 degrees warmer this week than last. Prayers for your mom next week with her procedures.

    Praying for your mom!
We had an ice storm yesterday, but it’s melted today. I hate ice!
I buy smaller candle sizes for the same reason. That does sound like a good scent.
Yes, I have the same issue when cleaning closets.

I will pray for your mom to have a successful procedure on Thursday. That cake looks so good. I’m sure your husband appreciated it, and your son, too. We’ve just cleaned out our closets and drawers, and I got rid of some things I had been saving because I might wear them sometime. It’s a hard decision, I agree. I did struggle, but am happy that I pared things down.
