I Haven’t Felt Like Blogging

Spread the love

I haven’t felt like blogging in a while.  I decided I’d make a post anyway.  If I go too long without posting, I will get out of the habit altogether.  So, this post will just be a ramble.  My apologies in advance.

Last Week

I had some bad side effects from two new medications that I was prescribed.  It was all I could do to get out of bed each morning, get the Teen to school, and then pick him up in the afternoon.  My whole entire body hurt so bad.  It was like someone had stretched me from limb to limb, and I had terrible heart palpitations.  Tylenol and Motrin couldn’t even touch the pain, and I got very little sleep. Because of the heart palpitations, I began worrying that another heart attack might occur.  I finally put two and two together about the new medicines causing this, so I stopped them last Friday.  By Sunday, I felt somewhat better; today has been much better.  I’ve been able to do a little laundry today, so I feel like I am making some progress.

If you’ve been watching any news, you know that several of our towns in Mississippi were hit by a tornado last Friday evening.  Rolling Fork, Mississippi, is just an hour south of us.  The devastation there and in nearby Silver City is just unbelievable.  We also had storms here Friday night, and it got a little dicey at one point.  The tornado sirens in town went off, and the lights flickered for a while.  Thankfully, there was no damage here.  Now I see reports that this Friday may be another repeat of this.  I’m a little on edge and praying it won’t be as bad.  Tornados are bad enough, but I hate when they occur at night.

Working on a Puzzle

I’ve started a new puzzle this week, and Jake decided to be my trusty assistant last night.  Ha!

cat puzzle

He’s been acting very weird, wanting to be right up under me and not wanting to be outside as much.  He’s still eating and sleeping fine.  He will go outside for a little bit but wants back in ten minutes later.  Recently, we have seen some male strays in the area, so he may be apprehensive about them.  Who knows.  Needless to say, my puzzling halted for a little while last night while he relaxed on the puzzle table.

I’m somewhat perturbed about this puzzle because I think a piece of it is missing.  I bought it second-hand on eBay.  I’ve bought several on eBay recently and haven’t had this problem.  I still have a way to go, so I hope I’ve missed it in the box somehow.  I will also have to check around the floor where the table is.

Retail Therapy

I had a little retail therapy online this morning.  The Teen was voted Friendliest 11th Grade Boy at school, so he needed a shirt to take the picture for the yearbook.  The two best department stores we had in town have closed, so you about have to go out of town or online to shop for men’s clothing here.  So, that was taken care of.  Next up was ordering some ink for my printer.  Again, we have a Walmart in town, but it can be hit or miss if they have the ink in stock.  A look online said they did not.  And finally, I needed some new foundation because the one I love so much suddenly looks too light on my face, making my mature (ha!….a nice word for “older” in most advertisements) skin look really dry.  I’ve decided to try out this Estee Lauder foundation because I had a sample of it here at home, and I think I’ve figured out what shade I need.  Plus, it has the words “rescue” and “moisturize” in the title.  Haha!  I hope I ordered the right color.  I love small-town living, but it must be nice to jump in the car and find a department store or a specialty makeup store like Sephora nearby.  Our beautiful downtown used to have some really great family-owned department stores that carried quality brands when I was growing up.  Clothes, shoes, and makeup…everything to have you looking your best!  I miss those days.

Organizing

I did manage to get one of my dresser drawers organized Monday.  Only five more to go!  The Teen’s closet is a wreck, and hubby needs to clean out his dresser as well.  It’s time for the Spring cleaning/organizing/purging.  The Teen has outgrown clothes, and I also need to replace a few things in my wardrobe.  Since I’m at home now, my clothing has become casual, and I don’t have much casual wear.  I’ve started a list of things we need, and we will cross them off as we can afford to.  I also have a little problem with cute notebooks and office supplies, and I need to greatly whittle those down, not buy anymore, and use what I have.

So that’s about it.  Nothing exciting is going on around here this week.  I am feeling a little stir-crazy from being inside all of last week, so maybe hubby and I can find something to get into this weekend.  Hope your week is going well!

That’s nice that you have some help with putting the puzzle together. 🙂

Hope you are feeling better now. Did you inform your doctor that you had to go off the prescribed medications? Maybe a different medication can be found for you?

Sorry to hear that you have been feeling so unwell. The heart palpitations must have been so scary. I’m glad that you were able to work out it was due to your meds and nothing sinister. Congratulations to your teen, what a wonderful honour! I hope you have a great weekend and you and your hubby get to enjoy something fun.

HI Mandy! I am glad you decided to post. I hope that you are continuing to feel better. You have been busy even though you weren’t feeling well. I like that puzzle you are working on. Disappointing that it is missing a piece. I enjoy puzzles too and buy most of mine at thrift stores so sometimes there is a missing piece. Wow, I had no idea that you were so near to Silver City. The tornadoes that have been taking place are so tragic and scary. I am glad that you are OK, but pray for all who last so much. I hope you will keep posting. It’s always good to see what is going in your world. Take care. See you again soon!

I’m glad you figured out the meds were causing issues. I had some issues with palpitations some years ago and they are no fun.
Hooray for your son! I think that is one of the best awards he could get, and something that will take him far in life.

Oh gosh, I hope you’re feeling better soon. I can imagine those palpitations must have been scary. I’m sure your son’s news made you smile though! Friendliest is a huge compliment and a testament to his parents, as well! They always say that EQ is just as important as IQ! Congrats all around!

Thanks, Billi Jo! I sure hope you are feeling better! So many projects to do in the spring, and it’s no fun when you get sidelined.

Glad you are feeling better. Are there alternatives to those medications your doctor can prescribe? Congratulations on having the most popular boy.
