Most of us like the idea of saving money. If there was a way for you to save even more on the things you need to buy anyway, would you want to do it? Saving money can be a little time consuming depending on which methods you use but the savings can really add up fast once you get started.  Here are four ways on how to save money without coupons:

How To Save Money Without Coupons

1. Shop for Sales – Before going shopping, check sale papers for your favorite stores to see what items they have on sale. You can also subscribe to your local newspaper, sign up for store emails or shop online for deals. Some retail stores offer sales online that you can’t find in-store.  About to head to the grocery store?  Download the store’s app to your phone, or check their website online and load coupons onto your store loyalty card or account.  These discounts will be taken off automatically when you check out with that card or your phone number.

2. Use Store Loyalty Programs – These programs were designed as a way for companies to reward their loyal customers. When you sign up for a loyalty program, you’re entitled to special discounts and sales that can save you even more money. Some programs even offer their loyalty members first access to new products and free merchandise.

One way I save even more ON TOP of store loyalty programs is to use Ibotta.  It’s an app that you download to your smart phone, and when you make qualifying purchases, you simply scan the product barcode and your receipt.  It’s super easy and the money really adds up quickly!  I’ve cashed out several times for Paypal, but you can also choose gift cards, including Amazon!

3. Shop Smart – Shopping smart includes making a shopping list of the items you need and sticking to it. Don’t buy groceries when you’re hungry and don’t linger too long in the aisles. Compare prices based on unit price and buy store brands when possible. When buying clothes, try them on before buying and avoid impulse buying when purchasing general items.  Really think through those purchases.

4. Buy According to Season – If you’re shopping for food, buying in season can help you save more. If you’re shopping for fashion, then shop out of season for some great deals. Most retailers put clothing on sale at the end of each season, so look for those clearance racks.  Also, don’t be afraid to shop online for groceries and household items.  You can often find a better deal!

With these four ways on how to save without coupons, you can become a smart shopper today. If you have to spend the money anyway, why not find ways to save more when you do?
