Hello and Happy Halloween! It seems like October has been the longest month, but here we are at the end, and it’s the day all little trick-or-treaters wait for! Our neighborhood gets absolutely slammed with so many kids! Last year, I ended up doing 114 treat bags to hand out, but this year, I am only doing a little bowl full and holding back a few bags for my friends who will be bringing their kids/grandkids by. We love to see the kids and their costumes, and The Teen gets a kick out of handing out candy. However, our weather has certainly changed, so I don’t plan on standing outside very much to check out all the action tonight.
Sunday was hot at 85 degrees. It was a beautiful day, and I took advantage of sitting outside on the patio that afternoon because I knew what was coming. A band of rain was headed towards us from across the river, and with that, it brought in very high winds and a huge temperature drop! When we woke up yesterday morning, it was gloomy, 42 degrees, rainy with high winds, and just nasty! I did the school drop-off and pick-up but stayed inside the rest of the time. I even had to turn on the heater! But I did manage to get a nice, big nap with Jake the Cat that afternoon. There’s nothing better than hunkering down under the covers on cold, rainy days!
Blogger Errors
If any of my blogging friends see this, I have tried leaving comments on some of your blogs this weekend (those who blog on Blogger) and kept getting errors when trying to do so. I’m going to try and re-visit everyone on my desktop this week, but please know I see your posts!
Last Week
I stayed pretty busy last week as I could. I sat in the living room floor Friday and finally filed away a stack of papers that had been building up. It felt really good to get that accomplished. It would be so much easier if I would file away those papers immediately. But it gave me a chance to listen to some podcasts while I worked, and it made the work go faster.
I also tried out a new sausage sheet pan dinner recipe. I was a little nervous about trying it, but I tweaked a recipe for it that I found online, and it ended up so good! Hubby loved it, and he was a huge help in the prepping. He cut up all of the veggies and sausage for me, and I mixed it all up in olive oil and seasonings and did the tossing halfway through the cooking. We both agreed this needs to be added to the usual dinner rotation.
Roof Update
Well, the roofing is finished…for now. Here’s a little sneak peek of one side of the house.
I am really pleased with the color, and it looks fantastic, but I have some concerns that I have to discuss with our insurance company, and we may not be completely finished yet. And that’s about all I can say right now because I’m not happy about a couple of things, and I need to get some clarification before we proceed further. Deeeeep breaths!!! Haha!
Hope you have a Happy Halloween! Will you be handing out candy this year?

Your sausage sheet pan bake looks wonderful! Glad your roof is done and hope you can settle the issues with the insurance company.

Thank you! It was delicious! I was inspired by a recipe Mari from My Little Corner of the World made. Things are coming along with the roof, I think!

We have not had trick or treaters in our last 4 houses over the past 20 years. I actually would not mind having a few of the little rascals knock on the door, but my guess is that they all go to town there they can get more candy.

I am surprised we have as many as we do, because our city has lots of pre-Halloween activities going on. Thanks so much for stopping in! I just went to check out your blog and I’m hooked! Haha!

I have had some issues with blogger too as of late.
It has turned very cold here as well. Poor kiddos will be bundled up!
Mandy says
Ohh, it has been so cold! SO not ready for this drastic change in the weather!

I’ve had some commenting issues too, very frustrating!
Your roof looks great!
I think your sheet pan recipe may be the same as one I posted recently. It was really good – and easy!
Mandy says
Mari! Yes!! Your post about the sheet pan recipe inspired me! I may have even printed it from you if you shared it. It was so good! Thank you for reminding me! I see so much online and then forget where I found things. Haha!

We’ll be handing out candy this year, but our weather has turned cold and windy, so I don’t know how many kids we’ll get. We usually have around 30 or so. Good luck working out the last details of your new roof. BTW, I had problems commenting on blogs last weekend, too.

So glad I wasn’t the only one. I was thinking maybe it had something to do with me trying to reply from my iPad. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon! Hope you all had a great Halloween! 30 kids sounds very do-able!
