Ahhh, the cooler weather was good while it lasted last week. I know you won’t believe me when I say I had to put my fuzzy housecoat on to sit outside on the patio a couple of mornings because it was so cool! By the way, is “housecoat” a Southern word? I know so many people say “robe”. Anyway, I had my housecoat on and enjoyed those cooler mornings sipping coffee on the patio. It was such a relief from the unbearable temps we had been having. But, all good things must come to an end, and it’s hotter than a two-dollar pistol once again!
The backyard birding has been excellent lately. I’m picking up so many different birds on the app than I usually do, and seeing my woodpeckers more often!

I also started burning a new candle from Bath & Body Works.

I have the body mist in this scent, Midnight Blue Citrus, and loved it, so I decided to try out the candle. It’s growing on me. It smelled really similar to another B&BW candle I already had, but the more it burns, the scent is getting more distinct and better. It just leaves a nice, clean smell. I wrote the date when I started using it on the bottom of the candle because I’m curious to see how long it takes me to go through one.
Hubby and I had a quick lunch date last week. He was passing through on his way to his next stop in Louisiana, so I met him at the steel yard where he was picking up his load, and we went to our favorite lunch spot. It was super good, and it was a nice little outing for us!

Needless to say, every time I eat here, I feel so full for the rest of the day/evening. Haha! I think I wound up eating some cantaloupe for supper that night.
I’ve been busy going through my inbox the past few days. I couldn’t believe how far behind I was on taking care of emails, deleting junk, etc. I usually stay very on top of all of that. I still have some more paperwork to file here at home. I’ve also been checking up on Young Man’s info for college stuff. He starts on Monday. He needs a haircut and a shave.
We attended my cousin’s daughter’s birthday last weekend. She lives about 45 minutes south of us. She was turning 13 and had a good party. After the party, we went to the local mall, and I was able to pop into Bath & Body Works and their new Hobby Lobby. It has been years since I’ve been inside a Hobby Lobby, and I have forgotten how big it was! I couldn’t walk the whole store, so I just looked around at some things closer to the front. Just amazing to see SO many decorations for all of the different upcoming holidays already. I’m sure it’s heaven for people who love to decorate and craft!

However, I did get some great deals at Bath & Body Works! All of the mists were on sale for $5.95, the lotions were free using my rewards, and the shower gels were $3 a piece on clearance from the summer annual sale. The candle was also $13.99 (down from $26.95). I have fallen in LOVE with the shower gels! Hubby uses the men’s line as well.
Speaking of that mall, it’s so sad how much it has changed since I was growing up. That used to be the place to be on the weekends! My friends and I would drive down there and cruise the mall, eat at the restaurants inside, and shop till we dropped! Now, it’s a shell of itself. I’m honestly surprised Bath & Body Works is still there. They’ve closed two anchor stores (Sears and JCPenney), and the bookstore is gone. Lerner is gone…the record store (understandably…everything can be downloaded now). All but one restaurant is closed. It is NOT the same. But, I guess that’s just how things evolve.
And that’s what’s been going on around here! I’m still cleaning out our extra bedroom a little. I want to make it into a proper guest room. Progress is slow on that, but I can only do so much. Haha! Hope you’re having a great Wednesday!

we call them dressing gowns, but we are British born, housecoats and robes are both common terms here in Canada though.
The cooler temps are finally here in Southern Ontario. I too love B&BW I stocked up in the summer sales. Heading to TN at the end of the month, so will pop into Hobby Lobby for a good look around, they always have lovely things.
Dressing gowns! Now I LOVE that! It sounds fancy! Haha! I need to try saying that more often. I love that you love Bath & Body Works, too! I’m kind of obsessed with it! Mainly the candles and body care products. They were having another amazing sale this past weekend. I may have got a few more things! I hope you enjoy your trip to Hobby Lobby in Tennessee. You will certainly be traveling a long way! Thanks so much for stopping in!
We called them housecoats when I was growing up. Robes were what the monks wore! 😀
I’m sorry the hot weather has returned for you. But, fall is not that far away and it will be cooler soon. Take it easy when it is so hot.
Our mall is about to be torn down. I lament over that all the time. My son was saying we are all going to be sorry. It was a place to go and cool off to shop. I think he might be right about that. They will build them back in 20 years. Ha.
My family called them housecoats and horseshoes instead of slippers growing up. I still do!
house shoes!
I hadn’t thought of Lerner in a while. That cooler weather was wonderful. I love going to a Hobby Lobby and Bath and Body Works. All the stores are so much more fun when being ready for the fall!
Not that cool here in Florida, lol. I haven’t been to Bath and Body in a few years; my mom usually gives me a few things every so often. Haven’t been to our mall either in a long time…our city has gone to those open-air malls/markets, which I like, but it’s been too hot. Wishing you a beautiful Saturday my friend.
I laughed at your housecoat comment. I haven’t heard that word in years…my mom and both grandmothers used it all the time. They were NYers and New Englanders so I don’t think it was just a southern term, but who knows. It brought back fun memories to hear it though! Also, our mall is terrible, too. I used to go there and have fun, today our mall is so high end the kids can’t afford anything. It’s ridiculous.
I haven’t seen a woodpecker like that. It has quite striking coloring. I say housecoat and supper instead of robe and dinner. I don’t know if that’s a Southern thing or not. I grew up in WV.
Hello Mandy my Lovely!
So sorry the hot is back – boo! Fall is right around the corner though. 😉
We are such kindred spirits. I love bath and body works and I adore Hobby Lobby! I do way too much “damage” at both stores. Lol
I hope you have a very blessed rest of the week and that you get some nice cool moments.
xoxo
We had a little cool down too but heat and humidity is coming back.
You did great at B&BW! The candle sounds like one I would like.
Glad you got to have a little lunch date with the hubby. 🙂
It will be permantley chilly.cold soon. Glad that isn’t here yet.
That is a beautiful woodpecker. Oh goodness, that fish looks heavenly.
Have a great week.
