Spread the love

Today the teen (I really need to stop calling him “the kid”) and I finally ventured out of the house to do a few errands.  The first stop was to see my mama.  I am so thankful that I only live about three or four blocks away from my mama.  It was a crazy week last week, and by the time I got off work, she was napping most afternoons, so we were like ships passing in the night.  I missed her and was ready for a visit!  She had visitors mostly all morning.  My aunts came by to see her and then we came over.  I know she gets lonely now without my grandmother.  I’m so glad she lives next door to my cousin and family and friends frequently drop in on her.  She also has THE BEST neighbors.  I’m telling you, I grew up on the BEST street in the whole wide world!  But, I’ll save that post for another day.

card shopping

After we visited mama, we hit up Walgreens.  I needed a couple of greeting cards and also some cat treats.  I had a $5 off $5 coupon to spend that would expire soon, so I definitely wanted to use it.  We picked up the cards, and they also had my favorite Liquid IV drink powder on BOGO, so I took advantage of that.  The teen wanted an Amazon gift card, so he spent some of his Christmas money on that.

Afterward, we drove through Sonic to grab some lunch.  It has been well over a week since we’d had any fast food, so we decided to treat ourselves today.  It is almost 9 PM and I am still full from lunch!  We’ve been eating at home and not going out for food and although cooking most nights is very tiring after work, it’s definitely more economical for us.  We have so much food here at home and I hate for it to go to waste.

I took a nap this afternoon and woke up and made sure we have masks washed up for the week.  I also sat down to send off a birthday card to one of my aunts and a thank you note to a former neighbor who brought over a dessert to us after I had my heart attack.  One thing I definitely wanted to be more intentional about this year is sending out cards.  I’m off to a good start!

I’m all caught up on blog readings today and will probably go do a little book reading before I turn in for the night.  It was so great to have a long weekend.  I feel like I got a lot accomplished and it makes me feel better heading into the work week.

That is great that you live so close to your mom. I live about 20 minutes away from mine so I don’t get to see her as often as I would like, however we talk on the phone at least 2-3 times a week. Glad you felt like you got some things accomplished and are ready for the new week. Hope it is a good one! 🙂
