We’ve had a busy couple of days. The Teen had to be ready at 8:00 AM on Tuesday to take the class picture, and it was just right outside our city limits, so we had a small drive. It took about 30 minutes, and I can’t wait to see the final result! I got him back to school and started my day, which was a little dusting downstairs. Hubby came home last night and cooked supper for us (hamburgers), which was greatly appreciated!
Better Sleep
I’ve been sleeping so much better at night. I don’t know if the insulin is what’s helping me sleep better, but I’ll take it! The only issue is that my low glucose alarm keeps going off on my phone between 5-6 AM each morning. I’m thinking I may need to have a little snack before bed. It also happened a couple of times during the day yesterday, and I felt very sleepy when it did.
Better Eats
Today was a distance learning day, so I didn’t have to run back and forth to school. I used this time to get caught up on laundry and boiled some chicken to shred. I also made some egg bites for a healthier breakfast and snack option.
Better Attitude?
Thank you all for the kind words over the last few days about my health issues. I don’t want this blog to become one big whine fest. I know myself well enough that I am prone to being a glass-half-empty person, and I don’t want to be like that. Negativity brings everyone down. So, thank you for bearing with me while I work through my newest health issues. When I pictured my future, I certainly didn’t see this coming. But who ever does, right? We are also dealing with something very unpleasant regarding our new roof that was put on, and I am just at the end of my rope with that. I need to journal this on paper and rip it up when feeling down. It’s something I’m constantly working on. Sometimes, I forget that other people (though not many) read my blog, and I don’t need to unload everything on here. But I sure would appreciate your prayers. All I can say is that the hits just keep on coming.
There’s not much on tap for the rest of the week. I have an appointment on Friday, and Hubby and The Teen may go see a movie this weekend. They have to drive 45 minutes away to see a movie because our small town no longer has a movie theater. We used to have one that had four screens. The owners became elderly, and I guess nobody bought it if it was offered for sale, so we’ve been without one for about 20 years now. I never thought our town would be without a movie theater.

Glad you are sleeping better and I hope the roof issues can be taken care of, without too much of a hassle. A protein rich snack is better for maintaining longer term blood sugar levels.

Mandy, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with these issues. I’m a type 2 diabetic, trying to manage with oral meds and diet and not doing well. I agree that sleep can really make a big difference with me. Those egg bites look very good. I’m going to make them.
I hope you get your roof situation settled soon. And I hope you and your Teen are happy with the photos.
I think we all need to have a “whine fest” at times and that’s what we all are here for. It helps somehow to know that others can share in your upsets and give encouragement. I know I’ve given encouragement a time or two on my blog.

We lost our local movie theater this summer. Now the closest is 20 minutes in two different directions. Health issues seem to plague so many right now- I hope you continue to see progress.

I’m glad you’re sleeping better. I know how frustrating that is and it really makes such a huge difference when you get a good night’s sleep. The eggs look good. I need to eat better.

Sending you lots of good thoughts for your health issues. Whenever I get my lupus lab results back (typically 1x/year), it sends me into a 1-2 day spiral of feeling sad for all of the many parts of my body it impacts, and reminds me, “oh, this is why you’re always so tired/swollen/low energy, etc, etc” & it takes me some time to rebound & focus on the positives. And, I’ve had lupus for a decade. Living with a health condition is no fun, so give yourself some grace. Yes, a positive attitude is super important and makes such a difference, but no one has that 100% of the time, so it’s an unrealistic goal.
Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Attitude is one of the most important things in life, both good and bad bleed over many other aspects and can be self-fulfilling destinies in both directions. Hang in there!
Cheryl says
So many things happen in life that change what we thought the future would be like. You got this – you are being proactive and that is great.
Your egg bites look so yummy!
Mandy says
I am sure trying! Thank you so much for your encouragement!

Hello Mandy!
Sending biggest prayers that all the roof issues get worked out soon. And it’s so good you’re being so smart and proactive about your health. That will always pay off. Those egg bites look delish by the way! 🙂
Blessings on the weekend ahead. xoxo
Mandy says
Thank you, Carrie! I appreciate the prayers so much.

I’m sorry that you’re having difficulties with your roof. Hopefully, it will come to some kind of resolution soon. But yay for better sleep. Better sleep should help everything. My local town doesn’t have a movie theater, either, but we only have to drive about 30 minutes to one. However, the little town (2000 people) I grew up in has a theater that’s been operating since 1907. That’s a really nice thing for the residents there.
Mandy says
That is so cool about that theater being open for so long! From what I gathered at the time ours closed, they are very expensive to run. Just thankful we have somewhere we can go,even if it is a little drive.

The egg bites look really good. I should make them again myself.
Yes, you should eat a little protein before bed, you don’t want to mess with those lows. I think you are handling this very well!
Aaagh – your roof! So very frustrating and I will pray it gets taken care of.
Mandy says
Thank you so much, Mari. I definitely need to try the protein instead of reaching for something with a little sugar in it.
Marilyn Bridges says
The egg bites look yummy and so glad you have been sleeping better. It is so important! I struggle with sleep. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Mandy says
Oh, a goodnight’s sleep does help so much. The past couple of weeks I kept waking up off and on all night, so I’m thankful to feel more rested.
