Good Wednesday Morning! It’s a rainy day here. I’m starting to wonder if I should build an ark! It’s been raining since Monday afternoon, with only small breaks in between the rains. I had to practically float home when I picked the Teen up from school yesterday. Thankfully, most of the flood waters had drained off this morning, and I was able to get him to school without any issues. More rain is on the way, but hopefully, we will start drying out tomorrow!
Eclipse
My goodness, this meme sums up what this eclipse talk has been like for the past couple of weeks! Haha!
Even though I’m tired of all the eclipse talk, I had to share a shot I took of it just to document it here. It was a rainy day, so I had to run out between rain breaks and try to see anything.
The clouds eventually broke a little and I saw as much totality as we could see here. When the eclipse first started, all of the birds suddenly came out, and they were going berserk, flying around and tweeting. Then, when the sun was completely blocked, the temperature dropped a whole lot, it got a little darker, and it got absolutely quiet. It was amazing to witness!
I don’t know if I’ll be around for the next one, but if so, I’ll have my trusty eclipse glasses ready! I paid $1.00 for these and used them while observing our last eclipse in October.
Senior Stuff
My mom and I finalized the reservations for The Teen’s graduation dinner the day after he graduates. I was so excited because he came home with graduation announcements yesterday! So, I will be working on getting those out next week. His senior class has a skit on Saturday morning, so we are looking forward to that as well. Things are really ramping up! He also informed me that next Friday is a senior skip day. Hmmm….I’ll have to investigate that one more! Haha! I remember our class doing that when I was a senior.
Good Results
I got the results back from my mammogram on Saturday, and everything was normal! I was so relieved and glad to have that all squared away. Now that I know the “drill,” I won’t be so anxious to go next year. I’m still trying to talk myself into a colonoscopy. My best friend had one done a couple of weeks ago, and she said there wasn’t anything to it. I just remember when hubby had one done about 19 years ago, and he was so sick the night before from the stuff you have to drink. I’ve been told that the process of all that is much better now, but I’m still hesitant. Maybe I will get there!
Spring Cleaning
Hubby helped me take down our front living room curtains so I could wash them and hang them back up. We moved the couch so I could vacuum behind it. I’m trying to do a few little spring cleaning jobs as my body allows. So far, it’s going very slowly. Maybe the weather has had my joints and bones hurting so much. Today is a little better, and I am so thankful for that!
I’m off to wade through my email, do some laundry, and empty the dishwasher. I hope your Wednesday is a good one!

I am so happy that the mammogram results were clear! I’m all for getting all screening tests done when the doctor recommends it.

Thank you! Yes, I have got to be more vigilant about getting things done.

For the colonoscopy, the prep isn’t much fun, but the procedure itself is a breeze. And, definitely do it. Mine was totally clear, but for my sister, they found & removed several polyps. Better safe than sorry. Also, if it’s an option, combine a bit of Gatorade with the solution you have to drink & it vastly improves the taste.
We are also working on plans for our senior, and I think we’ll be doing lunch out. He doesn’t have finals the last day of school, and our junior will be done at 11:30. Our graduation ceremony starts at 5, and then is immediately followed by the grad night party, so dinner isn’t an option, but we should be able to do lunch.
Such a fun time!
Mandy says
Your son has a lot going on, also! Y’all have a busy last day of school! Our son will take exams the week of the 29th and graduation is May 10. It’s a busy time!
My best friend got to do the Gatorade with the solution and she said it was fine. I’m definitely thinking of having it done this summer now. Glad your sister was ok!
Kim says
Glad to hear your mammogram was normal…phew! That’s great news. And yes, so done with eclipses and earthquakes!! I’m ready for a little normal spring weather now, please!! Haha!! Enjoy the senior stuff, it goes by so fast!
Mandy says
Yes, the earthquake and the eclipse was a lot going on at once! Haha! We live in interesting times!

I don’t see the comment I thought I had posted before. I, too, will encourage you to get a colonoscopy. While the prep isn’t fun, it’s not too bad, and the procedure itself is easy. The prep is much easier than the treatments for something that wasn’t found early, so it pays to do some preventative work.
Mandy says
You are so right. I know I need to do this. I’m really thinking of having this done this summer once my mom is recovered from her surgery.
Mari says
You got a great eclipse pic! I’ll be posting about my eclipse experience next week when people are really sick of it. 🙂
That graduation will be here before you know it. Sounds like you’re on top of it though!
Mandy says
Ahhh, it’s so much! So many grad activities going on. But, I’m trying to soak it all in!

Graduation. How time flies!
I love all things like eclipses. So yes, nerdy me was out there looking. The next one for my area is 2045 with me being in the path of full totality. I am keeping my glasses and going to be optimistic since I will be 85:)
I have a family history of colon cancer early so my first one was at age 40. I have had 5 and the process is much improved. The drink still tastes bad but you are not handed a gallon jug like I was 23 years ago. It is a lot less to drink and I always tell everyone to not fear it. It is not nearly as bad as people like to say- not fun but totally doable.
Mandy says
I’ve heard it really isn’t bad either, Sandy. I guess I’ve just heard so many horror stories in the years past. Thank goodness for medical improvements! Haha!
I’m keeping my eclipse glasses, too! I think we may be in the path of totality next time as well, so if I’m here, I will definitely be looking to the skies again!
Sam says
Drinking the prep for the colonoscopy still is gross and the “cleansing” not fun. But, after both of mine, I actually felt pretty good after I rested, almost like my body needed a good cleaning😁. Having a friend that had the best possible outcome from colon rectal cancer due to finding it early through his routine colonoscopy, I will advocate for all to get them as recommended.
Mandy says
Oh my goodness, I’m so glad your friend found it early! Yikes! That will surely motivate you to get it done! I’m just being a big baby about it all. I’m sure my body could use the cleansing! Haha!!
Marilyn says
So impressed with your spring cleaning! I had a colonoscopy about 3 years ago and it wasn’t so bad. I am glad your mammogram came back clear. Enjoy this rainy day and looks like sunshine is coming our way soon!
Mandy says
I’m so glad everyone is sharing their stories because it’s giving me some courage to go ahead and plan to get this done!
Cheryl says
Yes mam, I am over it. They sure tried to put the fear of God in everyone beforehand.
I remember senior skip day! We had that eons ago! LOL
Glad your test can back good!
Mandy says
Right? The sky is falling, the sky is falling!! Haha!! It was much ado about nothing.
