I’m Mandy, mom to my 19-year-old son, who is very into computers and gaming, and wife to my husband of 24 years, who cooks the most amazing breakfasts on the weekends and puts up with my crazy ideas and dreams, and STILL encourages me along, even though I probably drive him a little crazy sometimes.
I’m a former elementary school librarian. The best part of my job was introducing children to books and helping them develop an appreciation for reading. The most visited posts on my blog come from people searching for reading fair projects.
Nothing made me appreciate the gift of a normal day quite like having to undergo double bypass heart surgery at the ripe old age of 42. Having a heart attack afterward at 47 will certainly get your attention as well. It has been a life-changing experience, and I share my ups and downs on my blog. It seems like when I turned 40, my body started falling apart. Can anyone else relate?
I live in the Mississippi Delta, also known as the Mosquito Capital of the World. Yes, I chased the mosquito trucks growing up, which may explain much. Don’t let the Mississippi part mislead you. We do have indoor plumbing, and I’m NOT married to my first cousin. At least, I don’t think…
I’m a neat freak, and I LOVE to clean my house. I also think penguins are the cutest animals in the whole world, and my favorite musical group ever is Duran Duran. I love reading books and blogs and drinking copious amounts of coffee. I also love doing jigsaw puzzles and find them very therapeutic.
I started this blog in October 2007 as a creative outlet while being a stay-at-home mom. I had no idea what I was doing. Still, I have quickly learned that blogging is a great way to connect with like-minded others, offers me an opportunity to write (which I love doing), and serves as an online diary of sorts about my life, memories, and experiences.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I’d love to have you as a regular reader!
