A Weekend Catch-Up

Spread the love

Happy Sunday!  Time for a little weekend catch-up!  This past week was a bit of a blur, so I let another week go by without much blogging.  However, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to those of you who left a comment on my last post.  Your kindness was so touching, and I really do appreciate it.  It did my heart so much good.  I know none of us are immune to life’s curveballs, and being able to be on the receiving end of such kindness after a tough week was really touching.

Running Errands

After a few days of moving slowly, I finally began to rally toward the end of the week.  I took the kid to get some shorts for school hemmed.  I made a quick stop at my eye doctor’s office to pick up a contact lens and got my bloodwork and a bank stop completed.  I thought my bifocal contacts would be life-changing, and maybe they will be once I get all sorted out, but figuring out my prescription strength has been frustrating.  I think my blood sugar levels may be throwing off my vision a little at times.  In any case, we may have figured out what I need (fingers crossed!), and hopefully, this will be the end of that.

We are finally on schedule with the roof replacement.  This has also been a frustrating process.  Our insurance company has been so efficient and great, but clearing everything with our mortgage company and waiting for the insurance check to clear the bank has been ridiculous and time-consuming.  Hopefully, by the end of this week, the metal will arrive, and work will begin the following week.  I keep second-guessing myself about the color we chose.  I hope it’s not too dark, yet also hope it’s not too similar to what we already have.  We have a mansard-style roof, so the metal is very prominent.

Fall Has Arrived

I feel like fall has really arrived.  Mind you, we are still reaching the upper 80s almost every day, but it feels SO much cooler in the mornings and way better than the triple-digit temps we were in a few short weeks ago.  I’m even seeing a few trees starting to turn and shed their leaves.  I see lots of these as well!

Decorating for Fall

Yesterday, Hubby got out my Fall decor, and I put on one of my favorite ambiance video channels from YouTube on the TV and got to work!  I love this channel because, in each video, there is a little dog or cat that realistically moves.  My kids loved these when I worked at my former school.  This current view is a scene from a coffee shop in Amsterdam with soft piano music playing in the background.

I also used the time with all of our fall decor out to sort through it and set aside some things I no longer use, like placemats and smaller items.  I had a separate tub for Halloween decor, and some Thanksgiving things had been mixed in with that.  In any case, I feel things are better organized, and I’m not just holding on to needless junk.

Cleaning Out The Freezer

While I was decorating, Hubby defrosted and cleaned out our small chest freezer.  We needed to do an inventory anyway, so he got to work on that!

I’m happy he got that done. We ended up pulling out some salmon for supper. I’m glad to have that cleaned up and inventoried so we can know what we have.

The Others

My other guys are keeping busy as well. The Teen spent a lab class dissecting a gummy bear. Haha! Don’t ask me what that has to do with anatomy and physiology. He said it was annoying because the plastic knife kept sticking to the bear.

And this one…he has been busy napping anywhere he darn well pleases! My desk? Wrap yourself around my computer! My puzzle table? By all means, spread out and knock off every piece you can! Oh, you want the computer chair?  Help yourself!  It’s your world, and we’re just living in it!

The Week Ahead

The Teen and I have dentist appointments tomorrow, and it’s homecoming week at school.  He will have a couple of activities to participate in.  I’ll be busy keeping up the house and ensuring things flow smoothly!  I hope you all have a restful Sunday.

Hey Deb! It’s ok. I know it’s probably hard to follow my blog since it’s on WordPress, but I’m always happy to see you pop in when you can!

I like that ambient music channel.
I never heard of dissecting a gummy bear. They seem too small, and well.. gummy to dissect!
Cleaning out the freezer is a task, especially a chest freezer.

Even with a few days of moving slowly, you still got a lot accomplished last week. Glad you are feeling better. Not sure what the purpose of dissecting Gummi bears is, but I guess that was a fun way to get the topic started.
