It’s Monday, and it’s already a new week! The start of summer is really rolling along here and some days seem to go by so fast! Last week was pretty good, and we have some things to be excited about this week! The Teen will have college orientation on Wednesday, and I am anxious to check out his future school and see where he will spend his days starting in August!
Update
We made it to Mama’s post-op checkup, and all is well! She got a good report and has another appointment toward the end of the month. It was a quick trip there and back, but we were happy and relieved to get that behind us. She continues to do well and is doing great with her walking and breathing exercises.
Taking Care of Business
I am meeting with someone from The Teen’s high school tomorrow to help us with the FAFSA. It keeps kicking back an email saying we haven’t completed a section, but we certainly did. After researching online, I’m finding that we are not alone. Apparently, the “new and improved” FAFSA is proving to be a huge pain for all students. We do not plan on borrowing any money to fund his education, but to receive scholarships, you must complete the FAFSA. I hope we can get that all figured out.
Scored Some Freebies
My home smells like lemon, and I love it!
My mom was cleaning out a stash of her candles and wax melts and gave me a few Scentsy wax melts she no longer uses. I popped this one in because I wanted something “clean-smelling” for our house, and it’s wonderful! I highly recommend it! I think my favorite scent by Scentsy is Bubble Gum!
New Blush
I’m going to try out this new blush I got from Avon. As I age, all of the powdery things I use on my face, like blush, setting powder, and even concealer, are starting to make my face look even more dry.
I wanted to try a cream blush, so I ordered this from my aunt, who sells Avon. The color is Golden Rose. I will report back with my results!
Catching Up
Friday and Saturday were pretty rough for me after traveling in the car on Thursday, but I took a big nap Saturday afternoon and woke up feeling much better. I called up my best friend, and we went and grabbed supper. It was good to catch up with her after a crazy season. She is the financial secretary at my son’s former high school, so she has been super busy with the end-of-school-year things as well! I completely forgot to take a picture of my delicious hamburger and gravy fries! But getting out of the house a little and seeing my friend felt good. We also stopped in Five Below, where I had to buy a package of these!
I love, love, love dried fruit! These dried mangos are soooo good!
Making Progress
I bragged on The Teen about his thank-you letter writing in my last post, but I’m sorry to say the enthusiasm that he started out with is waning. But he is pushing through and got a few done this morning.
I ordered these awesome personalized thank-you notes from Doodlebug’s Paper. The owner used to blog back in the day, and we read and responded to one another. I followed her on Facebook and knew I wanted to order these from her! She has so many cute options, and they are so affordable! She is also a Mississippi girl, too!
Car Repairs
I was able to get the AC in my car repaired last week. It turned out to be the compressor going out, which is not a cheap repair. I’m just thankful we could get it done, and I now have my car back with a working air conditioner!
That’s about all I have to report for now! I’m steadily catching up on blog reading from last week! Hope you have a great day!

We didn’t want to fill out the FAFSA, but it’s required in our state to opt out, which is a hassle in & of itself. I also heard that the rollout of the revised form this year was a disaster. Glad you got things sorted out!

So glad to hear that your mother is doing well, post-op. Glad you got your car a/c fixed, too, and you enjoyed a lunch out with a friend. That’s very nice of you to help your son with filling out the FAFSA forms. I remember I just had my daughter do it all by herself! She still talks about it! LOL.

So glad your Mom is doing okay my Lovely. 🙏🏻💕
It’s so crazy that we have these kids – now young adults graduating things and now have their COLLEGE orientations! AAcck! Gives my belly butterflies when I think of all the exciting things ahead for my Annie – so I feel you Momma.
I forgot about my scentsy stuff. I need to dig that stuff out and put something on. I remember them having some very yummy smelling goodies.
Blessings to you. xo

Glad to hear a good report on your mom. And it’s good your air is fixed, even if it was expensive.
Good for the teen for plugging away on those thank you’s! I’m going to visit Doodlebug.

Glad your mom got a good report! Oh, every year I dred the FASFA. I have not found it to be user friendly at all, but go through the pains of it every year. Just a few more years for me. Have a great week!

A/C repairs are always pricey but important in the south:)
I am happy to hear Mom is healing well and hopefully will back up and at it soon.
I use a cream blush too. I remember using one in high school back in the 70’s so when I felt like that powder wasn’t working for me I went searching too. I like it WAY better than the powder. My grandmother sold Avon back in the day. She has been gone for a long time, but I never hear the world Avon and not think of her.
