A Little Boring, But All Good

Spread the love

It’s been a little boring, but all good here in the Read Write Mom household. Things have definitely slowed down so much since Young Man finished college, and we have been enjoying the slower pace. So much so that blogging has taken a back seat for a little bit. I just don’t have much to report, and I feel like I would bore you to tears if I posted the same thing over and over each week. Haha!

Birding

The backyard birding has been magnificent these past couple of weeks!  I have picked up so many new birds with the Merlin app and get so excited each time!  I haven’t actually seen many of these birds.  They are way up high in the trees, and my binoculars have bit the dust, so I’ve just enjoyed listening and seeing my “regular customers”.

But we did add a suet feeder to one of our trees, and the birds are absolutely going berserk over it!  The starlings (darn their little hides!!!) are especially fond of it, and their squawking really gets on my nerves!  They are cute little things, but boy, do they make a racket!

I’ve also seen the sparrows, blue jays, and starlings feeding their fledgling babies and teaching them to fly this week.  It’s such a sweet sight and a welcome one every spring!

Small Victory

My endocrinologist’s office called me this week to tell me to back down my insulin dose and to cut one of my medications in half! My doctor has been watching my numbers through the connection to my continuous glucose monitor, and I have been having too many low blood sugars since starting Mounjaro. It has helped my glucose levels so much that I am being told to decrease medication! I couldn’t believe it, but I am so excited about it!

Celebrate Good Times

birthday celebration

Hubby has a birthday tomorrow!  He will be turning 48.  I plan on making him a birthday cake and need to pick up another little small gift for him.  I’m not sure if he will want to go out to eat or not.  He has been so tired, and his back has been hurting him since he had to drive my car to Tampa to his uncle’s funeral.  No, I do not have air ride seats like he enjoys in his 18-wheeler!  Haha!  Hyundais are not known for their luxurious comfort.  I think he needs to get an adjustment from the chiropractor.

And that is it, y’all.  I’ll hopefully get into something more exciting in the next few days.  It’s just been so nice not to rush around and constantly watch the clock and my phone for Life 360 updates to know when to pick up Young Man from the bus.  Summer is just what we needed, and we are enjoying it!

We have also been really enjoying watching the birds in our back yard. DH hung outdoor lights, and they swing from them, which is hilarious. So glad to hear about your medicine, and that you are enjoying the summer!

How wonderful about your medication, smiles. I own a Santa Fe and that is true, but I so enjoy it so much, smiles. Wishing you a lovely day, my friend.

I feel like I have nothing to say on my blog, too. 🙂 I just recently installed the Merlin app and am kind of obsessed with it. All kinds of birds are out there that I don’t regularly see. I’m glad that the Mounjaro is making an important difference, and you can live with the side effects.
    Happy Birthday to your husband!

Woohoo on the medicine drop. That is worth celebrating.
I know everyone always complains about the heat of summer, but summer just always represented a slower pace for me than teaching and going all day each day. I still love it and look forward to Memorial Day each year because that in my book brings on summer. We remember those who gave us that freedom and celebrate with long days. That is all good in my book even if we have to sweat a little, well maybe a lot.
    Enjoy the birthday celebration.

We’ve been seeing a woodpecker running up and down one of our trees. They are so cool. Bird watching is fun.
Good for you and the blood sugars!
Happy Birthday to your hubby. I hope his back improves!
