When my daughter was small, she asked me if we could buy jail cereal. I had no idea what that was, so I took her to a store and asked her to show me which one it was. It wasn’t there. Months went by and I forgot about it, but then I made my semi-annual Chex mix for Thanksgiving and she got all excited that I found the “jail cereal”. I guess the Chex cereal reminded her of jails 🙂 That’s why I love Chex mix – it reminds me of her.

WE make a reindeer crunch with Chex Mix. It’s kind of hokey – just regular chex mix with melted butter and powdered sugar, macadamia nuts and some crushed peppermint sticks.

    Yummy though.

I make 1 recipe of Chex mix but double the amount of mixed nuts, add double pnuts, and a jar of cashews. This mixture is doused with triple the amount of butter/seasonings. Makes enough for an army but there’s never leftovers.

I make the traditional style chex mix (but a little spicier since my family likes spicy foods) and then I make a sweet mix with chex cereal, pretzels, peanuts, raisins and sometimes M&M’s and then drizzle white chocolate all over it and spread it on a cookie sheet. When it “dries” you break it up. Yummy. I have to make tons of this at Christmas time!
