After tucking E.B. into bed tonight and double checking his supplies for his first day of school tomorrow, I suddenly thought of the coolest school supply ever made, at least back when I was in elementary school in the 80’s.
I distinctly remember owning two Trapper Keepers in my life. One had kittens on it and one sported a hot pink and white geometric pattern. I’m pretty sure this was the one school supply that also crossed over into a fashion statement of sorts (at least until those darned backpacks became so popular), because how cool were you walking down the hallway with one of these tucked under your arm (guys) or hugged close to your chest (girls)?

Hey, did you notice the actress? Isn't she the one who marries Uncle Jessie on Full House? 🙂

Oh, thanks for the trip down memory lane…the TRAPPER KEEPER lane…now those were the "in" fad of school mates everywhere! I never had the kitten one you speak of, sigh, I only had a green one, I feel a little jilted.
Didn't you love the noise they made when you ripped the velcro open??? I bet teachers tired easily of that sound!

I remember begging for a Trapper Keeper. I think I was in 4th or 5th grade. My mother finally agreed to get me one. I picked it out and took it to school. As cool as it was, it was not very functional at school. *sigh*

Oh my word! Is there nothing you can't find on Youtube? I remember wanting a Trapper Keeper so badly. I had one of those mean mothers who wouldn't buy me stuff just because it was cool. I did finally get one, but it took a lot of begging. Mine was pink.

Sigh. Those were the days. I think I had a Trapper folder that had the Olympic logo in it when they were in…Los Angeles, Calgary? I don't remember.
The girl in the commercial – was she on Full House?
