If You Believe They Put A Man On The Moon

It seems like the moon has been quite a hot topic this week as we commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. I think we’ve all seen the black and white footage of Neil Armstrong taking that first step on the moon’s surface and those profound words he would speak to describe the experience. I can’t imagine the courage it must have taken to make that trip and take those steps.

I read that an estimated 500 million people watched that lunar landing on TV. My maternal grandfather was one who thought the whole moon landing was a hoax. You couldn’t convince him otherwise. He went to his grave convinced it was filmed out in the middle of some desert using fancy Hollywood cinematography.

Space travel has always been interesting to me, so the fact that it had been 40 years really amazed me. 40 years! Such a long time ago!

…and then I remembered I’d be turning 35 next week. *ahem*

OK, so maybe not that long ago.

It's very impressive to see how far technology has advanced. Just 10 years ago I got my first cell phone. That seems like eons ago.

The other day when I was out driving and listenng to the radio (I might add that I WAS feeling happy) the announcer came on and said "we'll be playing more classics from the '70s and '80s…" ACK! That ruined my blissful moment, thanks for making me feel so old dude!

Next May, I will have been out of high school for 20 years. That kind of makes me giggle every time I think about it, because it so seems not possible!

It was only a few years ago that I heard about the theories that the moon walk was fake. I never had considered the possibility!

Lots of hype across the world I think. Aussies are feeling very proud that some of the pictures came from us!

Ah, yes, but 35 is just a short part of a full life, whereas 40 years of technology… that's incredibly different!
