Since E.B. had really grasped the concept of Christmas this past year we just knew he’d have a ball on Easter. We had visions of beautifully dyed Easter eggs, Easter egg hunts and, of course, the grand finale being an excited E.B. oohing and ahhing over his Easter basket. Even the Bunny remembered to hang eggs in the tree to get E.B. in the spirit.
Instead?
The Easter egg hunt at his school was cancelled due to rain, but he still looked precious in his Batman Easter bonnet he made in class. I have no earthly idea why Batman has anything to do with Easter, but I can overlook that all in the name of cuteness.
We did get to dye eggs the night before Easter and E.B. liked that very much.
(*Please do NOT be jealous of my parent’s uber awesome 1980’s era kitchen decor…I know it’s difficult.*)
Finally…Easter morning.
E.B. woke up excited because I told him the Easter Bunny had been to our home. He walked into the living room, took one look at his basket and then looked at me and said, “Where’s the Bunny?” Totally unimpressed. However, he did like the Legos set which I had to put together (all 500 tiny freakin’ pieces) in record time before church started, lest the Tantrum To End All Tantrums commenced further. We were still late to church, of course.
But! We could still look forward to the Easter egg hunt at Grandma’s house afterward. As soon as church was over we pulled into Grandma’s driveway and then the bottom promptly fell out of the sky. Quelle suprise!
And so, it’s Wednesday night and I just threw away a dozen dyed Easter eggs out of my refrigerator. I keep stepping all over Legos, the candy has been inhaled and I’m sure one day we will look back and laugh at this.
Oh, and I’m still bitter we didn’t get to hunt eggs.

Oh no! LOL
We didn’t get to hide eggs either. The bottom fell out of the sky over here too! Bummer.

Goodness, what a bummer of an Easter!
Love E.B.’s comment of “Where’s the Easter Bunny?”

Well, we ran out of time, so we didn’t actually dye eggs until Wednesday! It was still fun, though.
We did hide the plastic ones last Sunday, though. 🙂

My oldest was upset that the Easter Bunny didn’t hide eggs in the yard this year. With church followed by a two hour car drive to grandma’s house, there was no time for an egg hunt. But the Easter bunny delivered eggs at Grandma’s and my daughter did say it was the best Easter ever, so I guess I can let go of the mama-guilt. 🙂

For some reason, growing up, we never hunted eggs outside. We always woke up early and found them hidden inside. We still do this with our kids. Maybe it was because the weather was so unpredictable?

Oh no! At least his basket was darn cute! Loved it!
Just do it. Redo Easter. Hid eggs. Have a hunt. Who said you can’t!

This reminds me of a camping trip we were looking forward to win my daughter just turned two. We had all these wonderful expectations that were busted! It was nothing but crying and tantrums. I am not sure if it was just her being away from home, but we just went on another trip last weekend with no expectations at all and it was great. My husband and I decided, we will no longer expect, just wait and see =)

Too Bad! Egg hunting is really the best part. There’s always next year!

Our Easter morning went about the same. I had to wake the boys up around 10. They looked at their baskets, took the dvds they got from the Easter bunny, and went back to bed to watch them! Where’s all the excitement?

Kids are funny. Where’s the bunny? That’s great! I’m sure you will look back on it and laugh sometime. Someday. 🙂
When we were little, my brother and I left notes and carrots for the Easter bunny. The Child didn’t seem so much into it. He liked the goodies in his basket, though!
